Waiting for my M550 to land. Decided on Dinan axel back. Having a professional detailer do paint prep, stealth and tint after delivery. I asked about the exhaust install and sent them the instructions. Got quoted $600 for installation.

Thoughts on having my detailer install or should I go with aftermarket tuner? All BMW dealers in my area won't install as they no longer have a Dinan partnership. Located Fairfield County, CT. Thoughts appreciated.

My Dinan certified high end BMW shop installed my full Dinan catback with valve remote for $450. This is a shop that is not on the cheaper side for anything. $600 is outrageous for just the axle-back especially since it seems like a detailer experimenting on an exhaust install. The axle-back only is maybe a 1-hour job. You are better off taking it to a Lou's Custom Exhaust. Read the yelp reviews first, it is a franchise and not all are created equally.

Why are you only doing the axle-back? You won't notice much of a sound difference unless you do the mid-pipe with it, which deletes the resonators. Unless you are doing just the axle-back purely for the look, you are throwing money away if you want that beautifully engineered Dinan sound.

You mentioned something about a Tuner? What does that have to do with an exhaust? Pic for Dinan reference taken before I put spacers back on.

Wow, of all the time I spend on Dinan's site waiting for price drops, I never saw they had a clearance section. Thanks for that!. However, this is the only axle-back they have on clearance. It's only $150 cheaper and with the less desirable stainless polished tips.

I called them, Darien and Bridgeport and no go. But agree with Joe likely beat to have seasoned exhaust guys do install.

When? Perhaps I talked to the wrong service tech? BMW no longer supporting Dinan from what I was told, but will call again.

i got my m550 from them last october and they still were supporting Dinan then, but they aren't on the website now. so you're probably correct. i live in upstate ny and there almost no shops around here that support tunes/aftermarket companies. only reason why i went bm3 for my tune.

there's BMW shop an hour north that is bad ass, highline motorsports. they only hire BMW certified techs, and have all the equipment bmw has if not better. the owner worked for bmw for over 20 years. they custom made my mid/x-pipe and even said they'd custom make a full exhaust if i'd want.

Curious if you purchased or leased. I was tossing the idea of an exhaust, but I don't want to give them any excuses to not cover warranty stuff. I own and bought a 10 year extended warranty. If I leased, I wouldn't care about the warranty as much.

I purchased (or will purchase when it arrives). I've been debating the extended warranty.

They're in Stratford right off 95. I've heard positive things about them. Let me know how they work out for you.
