Production began 2.5 weeks early!

I’ve been tracking my car on BMW USA’s website, so I knew when it started, but the dealer called me today and let me know it was in production. She said it was slated for week 39, but they started 2.5 weeks early on it.

Has anyone else discovered their car started production early recently, too?

I'm hoping mine starts early. I'm slated for week 42. Have '23 M550i on order. Can't wait for it.

I used the build guide timeline pinned elsewhere in the G30 forums as a guideline for what to expect and when. It seems I misunderstood what week 39 meant.

I called the BMW Genius 800 number today to inquire why the status hadn't moved in a few days and the genius informed me that the build week means when the car is built, not when production begins. Additionally, he added that the status update on the BMW USA Garage tracker isn't updating correctly and I shouldn't expect to see any updates on that site until the car is built and ready for transport to the port from the factory. Nonetheless, I'll be watching the site every day LOL.

Based on your build week, I'd expect that status to change to "in production" the around the end of September.

Status 150 "in production" occurs approximately 2 weeks before the body begins assembly.

Thank you. In looking around, that seems to be consensus on various boards. It's strange the salesperson doesn't know details like that. Nonetheless, I'm excited the process has begun.

This is good to know. The way my dealer rep put it, you can change options until it hits status 150 which he said could happen this week for my week 41 production vehicle.

Sounds like I'm on track for Sept 28th completion!

Got a question my status updated today to production begins and was given a vin number. Does this mean that within the next 7-10 days the vehicle will be completed and ready to head to the port for shipping?

sounds about right. but note- even after its build it takes some time to get to the port and then some time to leave the port.

Thanks just spoke with my Sales Rep and he confirmed production started this morning and he said it should be completed by the 19th of this month. He also told me from the looks of it we are ahead of schedule hopefully car should be here in Miami by the end of next month. Going to be an early Christmas gift to myself!!

Sweet, that would be great! Mine will be build complete on the 17th. Hopefully we'll all get them earlier. I'm hoping for a short wait at the port.

Mine was updated to awaiting carrier assignment on September 28 where it has remained since. 10 days and counting. I got the same "ahead of schedule" song and dance from
my dealer.

Once your car is on the boat, I think you'll have a pretty finite timeline. Until then, it could sit on the parking lot outside the factory for a while.

Bro my car finished production on the 19th of October and went to awaiting carrier assignment to dispatched from factory on the 20th of October. Right now she should be on the way to the port. Have you reached out to your sales person? Has he been able to give you any answers?

Where's your car right now? I'm still awaiting carrier assignment after nearly a month. Annoying AF

I checked this morning and it said in transit. I called Genius yesterday just to see if they had any other updates but said that it was still at port waiting on a ship. I'm going to call my sales rep today to see if he has more info. Like what ship it is on and stuff like that. I would be annoyed too bro. That's crazy. What is your sales rep telling you? Have they escalated it up the chain?

My car has already left port and on its way to Brunswick, GA. I'm down south in Miami. I was build week 42. Right now it's somewhere in the Atlantic. Left Bremerhaven on the 24th according to my sales rep.

My car was on build week 41 and has Baltimore destination. It has been stuck in "awaiting carrier assignment" status for more than a week now

Apparently, I am not as lucky as Greywall or M550iWoW.

Man, that sucks! Did you call the dealer and have them look into it?

I called my dealer and they're checking with the shipping manager at the factory re: why mine's not moving. Kinda pissed it's been done for a month and isn't moving while a build week 42 is on a boat on the way to the US.

I'll keep you posted on what I hear.

My dealer says that it is normal for a car "to sit there for a while". I am wondering now how long this "while" is going to be.

It looks like you and I are not very lucky. I look forward to your report on what your dealer hears from the factory. Mine does not seem to be worried.
