Can someone tell me what buttons are supposed to be at the top of the arrow?

fog lamps. US cars dont come with rear fogs, M550 has no front fogs either

Assuming that you are pointing to the buttons that can appear on the left side of the light switch...from one of the online part database sites...you can see that it can be 2 different things...and the number of "operable" buttons on the left side of the switch and what's positioned where...depends on how the car is optioned:

LED Fog lights ( S5A1A option code )
Night Vision with person recognition ( S6UKA option code )

What I find interesting is that BMW moved the left/right park light function from the turn indicator stalk and gave them their own individual buttons on the right side of the light switch. I wonder what prompted that move?

As of MY2017 G30s came standard with front LED fog lights. For MY2018+ they became optional.

Thanks for posting....it made me look up the light switch configuration for a Euro 530d...and what I find really interesting is if you have front/rear fog light AND night vision w/pedestrian warning! You get item #4.
