What is g30? There's 4 or 5 different power trains that come with this platform. Mileage or reliability is going to be drastically different.

My car 520D bought April 2018 mileage will tip over 94,000 tomorrow.

Issues - sos battery failed around 25,000 miles - replaced under warranty
Passenger side door lock motor replaced - if car left in sun it would make a squeak- replaced at 5,000 miles under warranty.

Car serviced every 19,000 miles
Tyres last around 45,000 per set (ps5’s will be fitted next week) used Michelin Alpin 4’s in winter (left on since pandemic as couldn’t be bothered due to lockdowns etc)
MPG - this is the important one (use my car for work) 53.7 imperial MPG! average over 94,000 miles - car will do around 850 miles on a full tank if doing motorway miles average speed around 70/80 with the odd blast over three digits.
Highest recorded MPG 72 over 160 miles!
The car is amazing, it will cruise all day at well over 100 and still do 50+ MPG.

The car has no squeak’s or rattles and drives like new - this car is an absolute beast - I cannot fault the build quality or performance. I use around 10trs of add blue every 8,000 / 10,000 miles - Audi 190 bhp diesel (equivalent engine) would use 3 times this amount.

If you are thinking about a car that will last and good to drive - this is your car.

Will be getting a milk float next, will miss this car.

2017 540i with msport package and driver assistance
46k miles.

Only issue i have had is that the coolant tank has cracks and is leaking but carmax said they pressured tested my coolant system until i brought it to an actual bmw dealership which they pressured test and checked everything and the paper from them said there is an actual crack in my coolant expansion tank.

still waiting for them to fix it dropped it off last thursday..

In the US there is a recall on the EGR cooler. Did you have a coolant leak in yours?

Hi! Sorry for the late response. I had presumably a coolant leak in the EGR. Here in Europe there isn't a recall on the EGR cooler, only a customer complaint related recall(INFO tag). I paid 50$ for a check up of the EGR and as I said in one of my posts, the coolant leak isn't obvious. I had to make a couple of calls here and there to get my EGR cooler changed on that INFO tag. It's bs with these coolers as they have a radiator inside which has pores that open up when the temperature rises too much(there is no threshold or anything else). Their tests will always have good results, as if there is no coolant leak or pressure drop.(When I changed my intake manifold, the deposits were wet, greasy and they told me yeah there are deposits but we don't know the cause of humidity in them. It took me 1 month to convince them(on my own money) that the EGR cooler is defective.
Customer service at least in my area is lacking as I say, generosity…not that I want to get my car fixed for free, but when they have recalls info tags and so on, they are so reluctant to do it as if they spend their own personal money on it. I get it that it's not profitable to get a fixed amount of money(from BMW) in contrast to getting money from customers(as a dealership), but it's just utter nonsense. For example, when I go to the BMW dealer, 1 working hour is 150-160$, but when I went with a friend of mine at the Mercedes dealership I asked for prices and they showed me that not even in AMG cars the workmanship is not that expensive(it was 120$ for AMG and approx 100$ for the normal models/hour!!).

I expected improvement over the years with customer service, but it only got worse. Now I have to drive approximately 2h to a nearby town to get let's say a decent service.

Good to hear!

My 2020 M550i only has 41k miles. The one issue I encountered around 36k miles is that the LPFP started whining loudly and failed a few days later. Replaced under warranty.

Mods: FBO (MST intake, AA catted downpipe, resonator delete, Remus exhaust, Dorch Stage 2 HPFP) running BM3 E30-E50 Stage 2+ tune and xHP Stage 3 transmission tune since mid/late-2020, KW V3 coilovers, full F90 M5 suspension retrofit, full F90 M5 brake retrofit

Maintenance: oil changes using BMW 0W-30 every 7.5k miles, transmission/transfer case/differentials fluid changes every 30k miles

Issues: lower active grille shutters stuck open (warranty), B&W driver-side subwoofer blown (warranty), B&W center mid-woofer blown (warranty), angel eye yellowed requiring headlight replacement (warranty)
How do you like the MST intake?

I’ve got a M550 now (2020) and both are issues across the G30 lineup. I’ve got an ambient light strip going out as we speak but I’m under warranty so not concerned. My 2021 X7 has also had a steering column replaced. I’m sure it will eventually happen on the M550. Hopefully before the warranty goes out.
