Help removing front bumper
New to the forum and BMW with a purchase of a ‘18 540. I live in an area that does not require front plates. The car came with a front plate holder. I need to remove the front bumper to plastic weld the holes full from behind, bondo, putty, paint and clear. Before I jump into it, I have been searching for a “how to” to remove the front bumper. It seems like there are screws in the wheel well, but what else? Also I have parking assist and has cameras/sensors up front. Will there be codes thrown if I disconnect them when I work? If that’s the case I may work on it by bondo bumper repair as they are small screw holes. Understand that many will suggest a bumper plug. Not the look I am going for.
Thanks for any help!! |

Sorry, the holder is on with 4 self tapping screws than a simple screw driver took out. I was Ted to get a how to or diagram of how the bumper is fastened to the body or tips. I don’t want to take off the 4 screws in the wheel well and then the bumper flops off breaking tabs.

Just work your way around the bumper. There are screws and pop tabs in the wheel wells, under the front of the car and under the hood. Once removed the bumper will pull out. Just go slow and when you pull, watch for all the wires you need to unclip.
