Similar issues on several other models have been addressed with recalls or extending the warranty to 10-15 years, but not for the G30 (yet). I suspect it could be at some point, but as of now, it's not covered outside of the factory warranty.

See many people changing mats and then the issue returns. In that case probably the ACSM that controls the safety systems.
Hopefully becomes a warranty extended item. |

It happened once. I moved the seat around, turned on the massage, etc. It hasn't happened since but it's on my list for the dealer to check out next time in along with the cars insatiable need for coolant, which seems to be common.
There are a few SIBs out on the false passenger seat thing including a zip tie fix. For now, not worth a trip to the dealer for this one-off.

brought to dealer last month as the error popped up twice.
Dealer states since it 's not currently an active error there is nothing they will do. I showed them TSB and they said they cant just start replacing parts at will. now my new car warranty has expired this month. im sure they will be happy to do something now... |

I just got a quote today to repair this issue and it was $2,130 at BMW of Turnersville since it now happens to me daily.
Recommend everyone to post a complaint (even if its fixed) to NHSTA to make this a recall safety issue. |
