There's a detail that I don't understand with the pictures of G30:

The G30 5-Series is clearly M-Package, but it also has chrome window frames.

I thought when you get the M-Package you loose the chrome frames and get the black ones instead. The F10 is just like that.

Is it possible to order the 5 series with M-Package + chrome frames, or is this something new to the G30?

Prefer the F10 interior. Specially the way the navscreen is situated.

I am totally at home with the F10 interior, and see the dash layout as a classic BMW design. But I see a limitation of the screen position when we add the touch screen function. Does need being brought forward and turned to the driver for good ergonomics and to be put in the least distracting (high eye line) position. For me, has to be function over form as the design priority.

760 - Individual High Gloss Shadow Line can be swapped for 3MB - Individual Satin Aluminum trim on request (its solid aluminum with a translucent satin anodized top coat). No where near as bright or reflective as chrome trim. Some markets advertise this option and while others don't.

Yes, you can choose between chrome and high gloss shadowline window trim, but that was also the case with the f10.

To be honest, I feel that the screen in the F10's dash feels really outdated to me. Its flat and boring - even my e60 has the flowy counters around the screen.

I also hated the idea of the "popup" screens at first, until i had a 4GC loaner for two weeks, and now i cant buy a car without it - it feels fresh and natural and there's an air of roominess because there's so much more open space around the screen. I'm at the point now where all of the cars with the old dashes just felt archaic to me - and its the reason that my wife got the new x1 instead of the x3 (we did a 2 year lease so we can get her inthe g01 when it comes out).

Give the g30 interior a chance when you take it for a spin - i have a feeling that once you get used to it, youll forget the f10 entirely.

My feelings exactly!!! Can someone please help me to understand why they did this? What is the advantage, if any? My lease is up in 9 months, at which time I must decide whether to finance my current F10, pick-up a G30, or something else altogether. I was hoping the G30 would blow my socks off and make me buy it, but the '3-series looking' nav screen and rear-end are keeping my socks in place. If I had to decide right today, I'd be hanging onto the F10...at least long enough to see the LCI G30.

They do it because it's cheaper to stick it on top than to design a dash around it. Also, it does allow for larger screens which the market is demanding and it is easier to see I suppose. But it's like I said in the past, I'd rather have a less functional screen that looks elegant than an iPad that gives me 2-3 more inches of display. That may sound ridiculous but it's a car, it's meant to be driven not used for messaging and iPhone apps. Although that's just the old timer in me speaking!

G30. The evolutionary design is exactly what I personally was hoping for. To my eyes, it has a "classic BMW" look.

(OK, I will concede the "desktop" screen is a negative. It's too bad it's not retractable for those who know where they are going and detest being pestered with electronic communications.)

I think the G30 is absolutely gorgeous inside and out....BUT...

One of my favorite things about my F10 is the design of the hood when you're sitting in the driver's seat. It's the only BMW hood I've ever owned and said to myself "wow, that's a really nice hood". I am not thinking I will be saying that when I get behind the wheel of a G30, which is okay with me, it's a really insignificant thing, but I wish they kept some of the F10's hood lines.

I agree that the industry is going with bigger and better screens, but I'd be surprised if the G30 screen is much larger because the F10 screen is pretty damn big.

Right there's obviously a point where if it gets any bigger than it will look out of place. But the F10's screen is also stuck out of the dash as well so it has no size limits theoretically.

It's the same size, but sits closer to the driver.

They used the STD interior of the F10 also, mine looks much better.
I still like the F10

F10 hands down! I HATE the uni-brow headlights and the rear has too many things going on. AND, whats with the chrome around the windows on the M Sport? F10 looks WAY better.........

The problem you're going to find is that most people think that the car they currently own is the most beautiful car in the world - it's from the effort they put into it, the connection, blah blah blah.

When I was in college I thought that the '06 Chevy Impala SS (yeah, the dopey rental car looking thing) was the manliest design on the road, and it was just underappreciated. When I got my '98 540i Wagon, I thought THAT was the most gorgeous thing out there. Now, I'm in my '08 550i and I think NOTHING looks better than that.

But I don't have a particular connection to either the F10 or the G30, and I like the G30 a lot more. I have a sneaking suspicion that most of the F10 owners will feel that way as well once they end up in a G30. I could be wrong though.

Although I like the tech of the G30,....the F10 will hold up for many years to come. It's probably will be a full 2 Sto model year beyond it before it's starts to show its age. Long live the F10!

F10 interior looks great but the G30 tech makes it irresistible.

Woah, bringing this back from the dead. I have had both. As much as I loved my F10, it is definitely looking dated. The nose just looks so round after 5 years of the G30. There are so many of them on the road too.

I do miss it though, but I'd say my G30 is a tad more badass.

I prefer the more aggressive look of the F10 hood, front grill (no unpainted piece in the middle), and better looking 5 spoke wheels. But everything else goes to the G30.
