E-class has remote control PARALLEL parking

BMW Autopilot is only 15 seconds (if the time is the same as in 7 series)
In Mercedes E-class, the autopilot can drive for 60 SECONDS

And those are not even the only examples. It really seems like the 5 series brings nothing new to the table at all.

Remote view and gesture control? Who gives a shit. Mercedes E-class has true innovations like PRE-SAFE SOUND and PRE-SAFE IMPULSE (i know they are pretty minor, but still innovations)

My next car could be the G30, but i'm very disappointed. The interior looks like the current 3-series. It's horrible. From the outside it looks like a facelift, but still ok.

The key is pretty cool, but with the E-class, you can open the doors and start the engine with your Smartphone.

Please give some examples where the 5 series delivers better technology?
If you think driving assistance and self parking are desirable, must have, decision making features why are you on a motoring forum?

Autopilot for 60 seconds? OMG!!!!! I mean seriously....

The car is lighter, faster, more efficient and more powerful whilst looking fresher/modern that is what's important.

I agree with a lot of this. Only issue the E Class is only 4 cylinder in Canada. Same engine as my wifes C class

The key is ridiculously huge. But with the E-class, you can open the doors and start the engine with your Smartphone. And you remote park with your phone as well. No need for a key the size of child's fist.

Please give some examples where the 5 series delivers better technology?

Without real facts and comparisons, those are just words.

If a car looks more modern, that does not mean it has better tech. I don't really give a shit about better remote parking, but still E-class has it and the 5 series does not.

You sound just like the guy in the vide below, full on nonsense.

really wish the new 5 wasn't so big, I would consider the M550i xdrive to replace my M3 in a few years as my kids get bigger and would love to have the xdrive, but its 10.7 inches longer than the 3 series! Its even longer than my wife's X6 (193.8)
Don't worry. The way things are progressive, the next gen 3 series will probably be E60 sized and you can stick with a 3 series X drive and save a few bucks.

Great side by side comparison! The G30 definitely has elements of the G12 and some features of the F10.

The E-Class looks kind of similar to the C-Class.. The interior is very elegant.

I'm not a Benz fanboy by any means, and I can understand that you guys like G30 better and E class is not something you'd spend money on. I also understand looks are very subjective, but how can you call that car ugly, or as one of you put it, super ugly. Kinda hard to take that seriously.

From a driving perspective, the new 5 is more dynamic. They managed to have a lighter chassis, a better Cx of just 0,22 so again a better fuel consumption and 4 wheels steering.
The part with all those assisted features is not that important for those who like driving.
I'm waiting for the 6 cyl diesel comparatives because these are the most relevant models in Europe: 530d vs E350d

yes we all love driving and we love our cars. else we won't be part of forums like these.
I disagree when u say assisted features are not important. won't it be nice if your car came to a complete stop if an a hole suddenly pulled out in front of you or more importantly if a child ran in front of you in an urban area.

True, the interior is luxurious, although a bit glitzy for my taste

The exterior however is a shocker. MBs modular design language with bloated front and rear ends, and a squat boot, on the C and E class leaves me cold

I had C and E class as company cars in the early 2000's and couldn't wait to get rid of them. Car sickness inducing handling and endless electrical faults. 'Orrible cars

Maybe you should compare Mercedes-Benz Designo specifications with BMW Individual.
Not the standard car. It would be a much fairer comparison.

I think the G30 interior design is a much more premium looking interior than that of the new E-Class. It's amazing that the interior of the 5 is similar to that of the new 7er, but they tweaked it in a way that to me it looks far more premium than that of its larger sister the 7er.

Personal taste aside, as to which one you like better. What exactly in your opinion makes it more premium than either? I mean I'm asking "look wise" since clearly we don't know how materials feel (likely great materials used) ?

I personally feel BMW got lazy on interior design here (see my previous post if interested in details).

Just how they gave the door panels more curves. The dash is angled more. The Center console around the shifter and the sides the whole interior has a more sensual organic look that catches my eye. It's subtle but it totally works.

G30 all the way. Hate the droopy lines that most current Mercs are riddled with.

Both look great but I think BMW really did an awesome job with the design of the G30 and ai prefer its looks to the Merc's.
