The only way to prevent it is more tire which you can do in sports cars but in luxury sport sedans tire noise would be an issue with fatter tires. |

Everyone was prainsing the F1 lineup, and questioning the G30 for it looks.
I think that debate is closed, as the G3* looks like a winner from every angle, also for it's performance and handling.

So many things coming out I want! Hellcat Jeep, E63 AMG, M5 ahhh.
How is e63 vs m5 reliability. I know m5 doesn't have a great record for reliability, isn't benz generally more reliable in their performance category? |

I'd love to get back into the brand, but BMW's execution of xDrive has been all about foul weather traction and has ruined any vestige of performance orientation. Audi has calibrated it's Quattro system for performance first (especially the trick sport diff in its S models) with foul weather traction as an added benefit. BMW's press release states that the M550i xDrive "splits drive power between all four wheels as the situation demands". Does this mean that power is split front and rear as well as side-to-side? If so, is the side-to-side torque split via the diff (like Audi) or via braking? Those are the things that make AWD enhance a car's performance. If BMW has done that with the M550, I'll be out of my S6 and back in a BMW.

Fair point mate. I am afraid if BMW really did a proper torque vectoring technology in this model, they would do more song and dance about it..

I'm not saying you're wrong...maybe I've just been looking in the wrong places. Sounds like the G30's V8 is going to be a new V8 over what's currently available, but I'm not seeing any evidence that it's anything drastically new, and possibly just an evolution of the N63 series.

Let's say there are people out there who can afford true M cars, but don't want to get the true M cars due to the stiff suspension and "always on sporty" drive. They are happy to dish out for a dynamic car that will have a luxurious/comfortable ride by default, but will have the on demand M sportiness for the random weekends they want to have fun. Is the "M performance" brand/section not good for them? |

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=900367 here is one guy that had problems and I think someone else in that thread had a problem with his n63tu. I think c&d also mentioned that the bmw v8 engines has been having some problems. n63tu still had oil consumption that was not fixed. |

Additionally, the M550i xDrive, as the name implies, comes standard with BMW’s xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system that uses torque vectoring to determine exactly where power is sent—and can send it independently to any wheel it chooses. "I'm really liking the "M Performance" division. There are many buyers that can afford M cars, but do not wish to get one because it's not the best daily. The "M Performance" I think is a great middle ground where this group of owners can get the M power and sportiness, but still maintain a comfortable ride for a daily. I know a lot of M fans are complaining about the dilution of the M brand, but I don't see this a dilution at all. I see this as bringing the best of the M division to car owners who want and can afford M cars, but don't want the stiffness and always on sport mode of the M cars. It doesn't meant that it's cheapening the M brand in anyway. It's a win win for everyone here." Basically, the use of the M badge doesn't dilute or cheapen the M brand IMO. I think it gives car enthusiasts a lot more personality by having a true "M5" and the M550i. |
