Thanks for translating. What's the fuel consumption (aka gas mileage) in American?
39.9 combined mpg for the sedan and 38 for the wagon...

I see the title of this post... I get excited... I read "Note that this car, like so many performance diesels from BMW, will not be available in the US" ... and now my day is ruined

with complete sincerity, and from the very bottom of my heart, BMWUSA can go F*** itself for this.

I really, really, REALLY (really), hate you people.

Scott26, corporate should be absolutely ashamed of itself for not allowing us to buy this car in the States when, instead, you give us the f***ing PIG that is the 5er GT.

I'd rant longer but I know the mods are gonna kill this post anyway.

Total B.S.

I guess they did away with the previous m performance tri-turbo high performance diesel in the M550d.

Nowadays BMW TwinPower means:
1 mono-scroll turbo
2 mono-scroll turbos
1 twin-scroll turbo
2 twin-scroll turbos
Previously 3 mono-scroll turbos
Now 4 mono-scroll turbos

Anyways, I think TwinPower just means turbocharged with double vanos. Or double vanos with direct fuel injection. Not the number of turbos.

With all of the niche vehicles BMW certifies for the US, this is the one many people would clamor for.

But, they will sell us a 5 GT. Sigh.

When I shopped for an e60 530i wagon (in the US) it was priced too high for me to justify.
It was a while ago but I think it was a minimum of $4,000 higher / about 8% higher than a sedan. In the end we went with an X5 as it was more economical and we had the option to tow which we ended up using.
I still want the option to purchase though! But in reality, I just want that motor in an X5 or X7.

Further dilution of the M brand....great. It means nothing to own an M anymore, when every joe blow out there has M badges slapped on every model nowadays.

I guess if prestige is what you're going for. If it's driving pleasure then it shouldn't matter right?

Blame Volkswagen Group. They killed the Diesel market in the USA. That a large collective of customers no longer believe of the benefits of diesel.

If you are One of the many cultural countries in Europe and in other markets across the globe where you have had the first and second generation M50d? Then you will see the engines in the X5,X6 and X7.

Just like Mercedes-Benz and their AMG models and AMG Line which is their equivalent to M.Sport/M.Performance.

Welcome to last year.

It's all being folded into amg, in a large part because of the reaction from amg loyalists. Specifically online reaction.

Bmw on the other hand. Totally tone def. Not only tone def, but we can rely on you to alienate enthusiasts with your racist diatribes in the process.

One company has had an amazing resurgence in enthusiasts and has built up an impressive (but not perfect) lineup, the other has been bleeding them off.
