What MB drivers really think of BMW...

Have always found BMWs (incl Ms) lacking in steering precision; brake pedal feel/fade resist; tq/shiftspeed delivery; and chassis stability/damping vs high-speed fwys, esp vs bumpy stretches....

Also have never been impressed w/BMW safety engineering/innovation (both active and passive), at least per my common-sense eval....

And running joke among colleagues (back when some junior, non-car-oriented guys would get some Bimmer...the default car for car-clueless, aspirational guys in the finance/tech industries) was that new BMW's struggle w/such basics as competent air cond, e.g., when parked outside a SilicVy off bldg, even for a brief mtg on a 90F day deep in Valley....and basic fuel tank capacity is lacking for commuting in regions like NYC/LA/SF/Chic, where 80+mi round-trip commutes aren't uncommon btwn resid and various office corridors....

Would argue the laughable car (from an engineering/aesthetics standpoint) that has demolished MB from a marketing standpoint is VW-Bent....Bent is globally selling some ?10K/yr $200K commuter cars.....doubt MB is able to sell more than 3K/yr 65s globally....and BMW (like Audi/Lex) struggles to sell any >$100K cars, let alone $150K+ cars......

The first part made me laugh.

That guy must really like MB. He's more of a fanboy than anyone else.

Someone should show him the Top Gear episode of the M3 vs C63AMG vs RS4 and tell him to pay attention especially to the part where the Stig hit an apple on the apex of the turn and Jeremy couldn't even get close. BMWs have a lack of steering precision he says lol.

Wow, haha, that's ridiculous. What do you expect from Merc owners. They've got to make themselves feel better some how.

I have an MB also (E320) and the ONLY thing I'll say is that it seems to feel more (but not a lot more) solid and stable at high speeds ONLY when going STRAIGHT (no curves or cutting through lanes).

That's it.

Except the CLK63 Black Series...but that's just one crazy car with crazy pricetag in the whole lineup standing out from the standard MB fare.

100% agree with you statement, I have an E500 KS8 and an C 55 DTM AMG that certainly feel more stable that my M at speed. Have test driven the 63 as well and same thing. MB's do feel more stable (and inspire more confidence) at speed than do, IMO, any other car. Again, this is ONLY when going STRAIGHT, curbs, love my M3, is great.

Check out this other fanboy that decided to chime in...

BMW's are like a hugo boss suit. Sure it gets the job done but it dosent make you feel special when you wear it!!

especially if your auto budget is over 100K

Sure they could give it a gazillion HP, steering as precise as a scalpel yatta yatta. If it still looks like butt and has a interior that makes you feel like you are in reception room awaiting a root canal, it simply wont appeal to me.

If I want something as precise and enjoyable as BMW claims their cars are, I would just get a porsche!

Hahaha, BMW "looks like a butt" says the Merc owner. Now that's the funniest thing I've ever heard.

Haha, well, its fine that he doesn't like the interior and shape of the bimmer, but his argument sure is stupid when he says its a GREAT handling car but its an Hugo Boss and dosn't therefor sucks (by the way Hugo Boss suits are pretty nice) . What is that?

However, and there always is that however, Porsche is a great car but I would personally take my E92 M3 over the 911 S4's etc... and most certainly Caymans and so on but not over the GT2/3's and the TT of course.

Id like to see him put some money behind his claims, for example his house, wife and S500 or whatever he drives. gurantee if someone challenges this guy to a race for some real money he'd back down faster than he typed that abbreviated post.

also the title of this thread should be "what some retard thinks of BMW", i think most Merc owners know that their cars are more catered to luxury and really most Benz' can't hold a candle to their BMW counterparts in the performance / fun to drive category.
