OK then....my impressions.
The 1st picture should tell you all you need to know. When I collected the car I drove half a mile to a shop and was not really impressed. But I couldn't really open it up. I thought have I made a mistake ??? had you lot oversold it! In the end I did end up taking the long way home with the windows down. And after 20 mins (when I am sure the exhaust needed heating up or something) oh boy does this thing scream when you get beyond 4k revs. And then when you get beyond 5.5k revs the noise is accompanied with an almost jet sounding whistle. At low speed there is a gentle low rumble with slight burbles on the overrun. On long overruns I did get a couple of pops, after driving hard. At low revs with high demand the turbo spool is definitely louder. I love it..... makes the car an M-Lite A definite sleeper being an estate. Also got a couple of looks when flooring it, so it must be pretty loud. Affixed the obligatory M Performance stickers on when I got home. Don't want to dwell on negatives....all due to the dealer. Didn't keep me in the loop when they were delayed, and I think they have slightly scuffed the rear bumper, but hopefully they will polish out.

21 BHP maybe
I think so. More day to day comparing with my G30 non MPPSK will give me a better impression. Definitely gives the car more Drama which is what I was looking for. Trying to upload some videos, but struggling to blank out my reg.

Hi nsa100
Hmmmm …….. I hate to say "I/We told you so", but your car is now a "sleeper" to take on all the wannabees. Just a note that your mid range is improved, so try yo keep your license and avoid the speed traps. Cheers

You were all correct. Just glad it meets expectation for the cost. Get nice overrun pops when the car is cold (more fuelling) if you let of the gas after hard acceleration. My V70R used to do this, and kind of reminds me of that. Makes my the decision to go back to petrol powered the correct one (over the 530d). Will be interesting to see if the mpg recovers once if I start driving 'normally' again. I will try some higher octane petrol on the next fill up, as again you used to feel difference in the V70R, I presume due to the higher boost.

How does it feel driving in comfort mode, is the software making a significant difference or do you need to go to sport to feel the difference?
I had a Polestar upgrade on a Volvo V70 2.5T and the change was like chalk and cheese even at low revs and driving gently |

Need to try for an extended period. I think the 'step' from comfort to sport is about the same as a standard 540i (non mppsk) I will report back.

Update:
My family all think it is louder than the M5 CP (F10) when the windows are down on hard acceleration !! They do remind me though it is not as good as C63s we had.

I thought you would like it. Is it worth £3K+ well debatable but I think so.

I think isolation it seems a little pricey. But having said that if it was available when I ordered the car I probably wouldn't had thought twice about it. What's another £3k on £51k list price of the car, especially on PCP? They should offer it as a factory option for £2-2.5k and save all the hassle of getting it installed and wasting components. (which reminds me the dealer didn't offer me the parts back. The rear trim may come in handy if the wife scratches hers) May have had to drop the B&W speaker upgrade though.

Just had my MPPSK installed. Would definitely recommend Sytner Birmingham who did mine at a very good price. Also got to drive a new 3 series (1day) and an M5 (2 days).
Insurance was another story! Hastings could not quote for the mods so had to shop around in panic as they gave 7 days to cancel the policy. A lot of companies could not quote or the ones that did were extortionate. Eventually found a good policy with Aviva. Both exhaust mod and engine tune declared and covered. They went in to detail in terms of the bhp gained (340 to 360) and spoke to the underwriter whilst I was on the phone. Would definitely recommend Aviva. Try and avoid Hastings if you’re thinking of doing mods mid term. The MPPSK - sound is definitely improved, the rear looks much better than standard and it has more poke than before 😊 |

Had an M5 for 2 days and that thing is a beast. Very good fun and brutal for a daily driver - had it in sport plus mostly 😁 Reminds me of Clarkson saying the Alpina is a good daily driver but M5 is definitely the more racing focussed.
