New Key question

Does anyone know a better way to get a spare key for an M550i than through BMW since they want 450 for it?

There is no other way since keys are considered anti-theft items.

I know nothing of the validity to the claim in this thread...but it just so happens to be near the top of the page on the f10 forum: https://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1798504

Buyer beware...use your own judgement to any claims and verify it it can even be done for your model nomenclature.

Would that tool work on the G30? I was under the impression that BMW changed things to make it harder and a method wasn’t yet available for the G30 outside of the dealer.

CA users get keys very cheap from BMW directly. They should just do this nationally. $250 I think there.
