Turning Stuff Off

Hi,

Was wondering if there was a way to disable connected app access and other things that keep running while the car is "off". Worried if go away for a few weeks will come back to a dead battery. Especially since I believe these use the lithium ion ones which are $1200 to replace.

I second this. Just got ours yesterday and unless locked the car seems to stay awake entertainment wise. Have to lock it to turn it off. Would like to not lock it up when sitting locked in garage. Guessing it won't kill the battery but not sure don't want to wake to a dead car.

You can configure the vehicle to go into the idle state when the doors are opened. You can also force it by pushing and holding the radio volume knob.

I guess my question is will it hurt anything leaving the car unlocked and "on" all night? Or should I just lock my car overnight in my locked garage inside my locked gated entry home??

The vehicle automatically goes into idle after a few minutes of no activity. I wouldn't worry about it, let it go into idle state or change the setting so that when you open the door it goes idle.

Just talked to my CA the car goes into idle after 5-7 minutes. This car is going to take some to get used to. Super computer on wheels.

jra0113 - My 18 540i does the same thing as my wife's 19 x5, if you open the door before you turn off the car the radio and lights all that electronic stuff will stay on. If I turn off the car before I open the door on either vehicle then all electronics turn off.

If you can still connect to it with the connected app and see the camera's, remote start, etc.., something is still running and connecting to the Internet.
