I just put a 2020 530e on order--hoping to get it before the Trump tariffs on German cars. I wonder if the new grills on the LCI will help the 2020 hold value?

New grills or not, your resale value will drop just like any other BMW. The statements of resale value holding would effect cars with more special/desirable features like transmission or engine choices, such as older M cars

Exactly. No doubt that the 2020 will lose value. Will it lose value more slowly than might otherwise be the case in the years after the LCI and before the "next" model. I don't know, nor do I expect anyone will know, now. What I do know is that I ordered the 2020, rather than waiting for the LCI, because I don't want bigger grills and it seems inevitable that the 2021 will have them.

I'm in the same boat, the 2020 might be the sweet spot of pre-LCI + new engine. Waiting to see more. |

Here is the most revealing look yet at the LCI G30 5 Series. As you can see in the comparison photo, the kidney grilles will grow just a bit in size, but not substantially so.

I am not a fan of the 5 series grille and think that the LCI grille might actually end up being better proportioned...
Of course I may end up eating my words when we get the full reveal!😄

Hmm. Maybe BMW is realizing the catastrophic mistake of these ridiculous large grills? Or not.
Either way, designing your cars for the Chinese market only is a terrible idea IMHO. Alienating the rest of the world to cater to China is a losing strategy. BMW cannot survive with the Chinese market alone.

Didn't 7 series sales go up after big grill? Doesn't X7 selling well? Yes, and Yes. Big grills look much better and they are the new design trend.

The X7 has nothing to compare it to since it's a new vehicle in the BMW lineup. It is also the only 7 seater in the line up. I don't think the bigger grills had anything to do with it. One could argue with smaller grills it would have sold more than it has since it was released. But wait there's more. The new M4 with an even larger grill is absolutely taking it too far. I don't think its going to sell like the last generation. Yeah I said it!

And M4 is definitely not targeted at the Chinese market..., the staple for Chinese market at new manager level is 3 series LWB...

Ahhhhh thank you bimmergods. I like this latest peek at the LCI. What a relief that it is just a subtle tweak and not a bulbous growth.
