European M550i comes with damn M's all over. So far I've lifted the sides off and the cheap looking Xdrive badge. Dozens of M badges are for 2003 330d diesels only haha

In the U.K. you can order with out the m badges on the side and without rear badges (x drive and model number)
Both options are not surprisingly free options

In the US, they have an entry for side-badge delete on every car shipped here. My car was ordered with a rear badge delete. I had the dealer put them back on and I eventually added the side badges. The US market is the only market without the side badges for some reason. I don't add anything to my car that isn't an option of some sort, but I liked the way they looked and there are plenty of Canadian imports on the roads here with them, so why not.

De-badge? Sure. Add badges? No thanks, especially not some extra M badges on a mid-range 5 series with, I am assuming, an M-sport package. What does that car have to do with M? Brakes and 704...maybe?

The few M sport badges\logos that we get here in US is plenty for me. Glad we don't get that extra bling by default.

I don't think about a $94,000 M550 as a mid range 5-series, but in your case, I get it. Preach to BMW for putting an M on your car if you are embarrassed because it's not even close to an M.

I wouldn't dare to downplay your almost M5 and the MSRP (which none of us ever pays).

You brought up MSRP though. Can you please elaborate what exactly do YOU have to do with that MSRP? You got your car used. What did you end up financing, 50k? That's a good deal. Its a great looking car !

You completely misunderstood the post, took it as though I am talking about your M550, your love for badging and started rambling about your car and the MSRP. You really need to practice reading with comprehension. I never claimed M550 was a mid-range car. You started arguing against your own imaginary claim. Then you proceeded with an argument that OPs post is a 4 year old post. The thread is not. You responded on it before me. What exactly was your point there (rhetorical)?

Again, stop deflecting, you brought up supposedly your MSRP and the picture (so yes, you were talking about your car). This conversation was never about 540 vs M550 and how MSRP justifies the M badge until your incoherent responses made it. I debadged the M off the rear of my m550i and blacked out the rest including the xdrive badge. Just says "550i" now and I think it looks pretty clean. Im not a huge fan of the completely debadged look

Definitely different. I'm also not a fan of the debadged look on the G30. E39 maybe. As I said above, I had a chance to see my car debadged, took me 30 seconds to ask the dealer to put them on.

I do like the m performance add ons for the G30. I find myself considering the rear spoiler and diffuser in particular. Then I come back to the original rationale for buying a 550i rather than M5: The car won't stand out to thieves or dangerous nut jobs. Flying under the radar with 600+ bhp is the goal. So back on topic, taking M badges off helps meet this objective.

I would argue that de badging draws attention to the car from haters. They look at it and say, this guy really loves his car and the green with envy key comes out. My comments have nothing to do whether you like the look or not. There are so many people out there that don't want anyone to have nice things because they can't. Just another angle. Similar to parking really far away which I do, but far, not alone by itself.

I especially hate it when you are parked far away by yourself and when you get back to your car, some douche is parked right up next to you.
