DoD also and any supporting contractors. Mainly require security clearances though.

Something in Manufacturing/Industrial type.

I heard there was a Toyota plant around there, any word on how it is working there?

Yeah they have a plant on the south side of town that builds Tundras and Tacomas. I did an engineering internship there about 5 years ago and it was a good place for that. A few of the other interns I met are still working there so they must like it. As far as the actual line workers, they run a day shift (6AM-4PM) and a night shift (6PM-4AM), and rotate back and forth between shifts every 2 weeks. That sounds like it sucks but I think the money is decent.

If you have a Top Secret clearance and don’t want to be in DC region, you’ll be fine here.

I like San Antonio -- except for the heat. My son has been living, working, and raising a family in the area for ~20 years. Cost of living is really good there so you might have extra flexibility in terms of salary. I think the north side of town is where you want to be for better schools and neighborhoods. It's an amazingly spread out place -- two beltways! Figure on driving everywhere you want to go.

Worth noting that you can do this at any time, even with existing tires. I always take new car straight there for the tire warranty.

How new do the tires have to be?

I think they charge you a flat rate, so the newer the better, but I paid for the certificates on the wife's car with about 5k miles when one had a cut and got it replaced and the other three covered.

Lived in SA for over a decade and never had a flat. The streets in Dallas are way worse.

I’ve been to Mexico City and it was cleaner

SA is biggest dump I’ve lived in, and I’ve lived all over the world.
I’m dodging car parts, construction equipment, chairs, couches, etc on a daily basis. I wish I was making it all up.
Before you discredit me, and my experience, I’ve lived in, worked in SA for over 20 years. My daily commute is 80 miles to - from work, add in running errands and I’m at 100 miles a day.
Here’s one of the latest in my daily adventures. A 8’ sheet of metal stretched across the fast lane on 410. It stayed in the same spot for 5 days.
Some poor person couldn’t dodge it and bent it in half...5 days in the fast lane of a major highway. Dump!

Yes, the highways hold water during moderate to heavy rains, mostly in the fast lane. I figured that was by design to wash away all the debris!
But yes, There are spots in the city of San Antonio that flood during heavy rains.

First of all. Sucks for you, move closer to town or wherever you work. Anyone who chooses to live out in the 151 area deserves what they get and the same goes for Stone Oak, Cibolo, Schertz, Selma, Leon Springs, Fair Oaks, and Boerne. You should be jumping for joy they're getting that interchange pictured built. Yeah, you'll have to really suffer while it's being built, just like every area where an interchange is being built here in the city.

I have suffered through I-10\410, 281\1604, and 410\281. Once they were done, it really did make a huge difference. Every interchange construction I've ever seen (I've lived in Houston and Dallas) has all kinds of trash and obstacles you have to dodge. 635 was TERRIBLE while they dug the tolled Express Lanes into the ground. For 5 years I commuted from Helotes to downtown and never saw what you're describing, so the moral of the story is if you don't live near\have to commute through a major construction zone, you don't really see what you're describing as and everyday\everywhere sort of situation. Not to mention that area isn't in the best part of town and the garbage all over the freeway is to be expected. I've seen the same in other large cities. I sold my house and moved when I saw the 1604 construction coming. I now live inside 1604 and near I-10. My life\commute are MUCH easier.
