Rust ring on rear rotors?
Just noticed that both rear rotors of my 540i has a rust ring formed. Never seen this before, is this something covered under new car warranty? I feel like it’s caused by insufficient contact between pads and rotors, but I could be wrong.

I wouldn't worry about this too much, most likely cause by a small hard spot on the rotor or a a small defect on the pad. I bet if you did a few high speed hard braking sessions you could get that line removed. I'd be surprised if they replaced these rotors under warranty.

You call that "rust". Try living in the Northeast where the roads are white with road salt. Rust is really everywhere on the braking system. In fact, it's so bad that brake pads experience rust jacking. A term used when brake pads become so corroded that it the fiction material separates from the steel backer plate.
