I can't see these 3 in Canadian ordering guide for 530e nor on USA website configurator. What??????
Without remote parking, that giant ass display key is even more stupid. Why can't BMW make it work using smart phone like Audi A8? Much more convenient. Who the fxxk want to carry a key that huge with them especially during summer time when we wear less...damn |

those options are missing for UK to.... I would have liked the rear wheel steer, or full dynamic handling (only VDC available, which I have ordered). I might have gone for full park-assist-plus if remote parking was available.

Although night vision is gimmicky, rear wheel steering is very useful for a car this big

Does it require coding? Since anti dazzle was disabled for North America for so long.... |

Yes, VLD, NGHB, and targeting require coding. |

I have ordered the nightvision option. The pictures I have seen of the targeting beam show an additional light on each side of the car. So it might be more than coding. I am hoping to get my car by Christmas (being built this week but then has to get to Oxnard and then to my dealership in Scottsdale) and can see then.
In the meantime, has anyone in the US got the nightvision option on a 2018 5 series and, if so, did you get the spotlight? I am thinking that there was not enough space left in the car for the additional equipment for the 4 wheel steering and remote parking. But the executive package/parking assistant package will get you self parking, you just have to stay in the car. |

Almaretto: Consumer's Reports says that the spotlight feature is not available in the US. Is that report out of date or is this something, like anti-dazzle--that can be coded to work?
"A glimpse toward the future We also had the opportunity to drive a development vehicle equipped with BMWs Dynamic Light Spot. This system went one step further in not only detecting living obstacles, but by making them still more visible by shining a spotlightlike light on them to make the driver even more aware of their presence. Those of us who had a chance to drive this car commented that at times, the beam illuminated pedestrians we hadn’t even seen yet. The spotlight is generated from lights in the fog lamp housing, so it stays low and close to the road. It was quite effective. Currently, standards for lighting in the United States prohibit technologies such as this. The spotlight output exceeds maximum levels of light currently permitted, with the intention to eliminate a headlight’s potential for glare to oncoming drivers. Regulations also prohibit headlights and other forward lights from turning on and off during operation, a function limited to identifying emergency vehicles. But the low position of the light from the fog lamp and the fact that it doesn’t strobe or flash as emergency vehicle lights do may mean that these limitations in the current lighting standards could conceivably be revised to allow such technologies. Features such as dynamic light spot are currently available on vehicles in Europe." |
