Received my second dose of Moderna on Thursday evening. Headache, much like a hangover and massive chills during the following day, but by Friday evening I was feeling fine.

My mind was in a fog since J&J shot 1.5 weeks ago. Was feeling a bit tired and sleepy really early (6-7 PM). Started feeling better last few days so the effects lasted about a week. From what I understand it could be up to two weeks depending on the individual.

Hadn't heard this before, is this just for the J&J?

Let's go back to experiences from the vaccine please and keep the political aspects and conspiracy theories away. It's driving away from the purpose of this thread.

We can all mutually agree that we want to be back to living normal lives again, let's keep it positive.

I got my first AZ shot a few days ago at about noon. I had just a slight bit of fatigue in my elbow that started about 6pm. Around 9pm I felt almost like I had a head cold starting so I went to bed early. I couldn't sleep because my legs were aching quite badly and I couldn't get warmed up. This is highly unusual for me as I almost always have at least one sacrificial leg out and often both are uncovered. The next day was what I can only describe as a hangover day... headache and upset stomach. My legs were tired but the aching was gone. It was early evening before I felt right again.

I don't think it's typical. I've never heard of anyone having symptoms past 4 days and I know 60+ people that have been vaccinated. 48 hours after my 2nd Moderna shot and I feel great.

I think in general people can have side effects up to 2 weeks. It could have been lack of sleep too on my end. But yeah, was pretty tired until last few days.

Did you have COVID before? That ends up making any shot you get more like a 2nd shot.

I was talking with a neighbor tonight and he said after his second shot he had a really bad head cold the next day, but it was gone the day after. That's one I hadn't heard before.

Had another friend who said his only reaction was insomnia for a day (or night, as the case may be). The lack of sleep wiped him out for the day after, but he had no aches or fever.

Sure sounds to me like you actually had COVID.

I suspected I did in December 2019 while in Vietnam (was really tired and cold sweat for a few days) but didnít know of covid then. I got tested a few times last year (Sep and Nov) and both times negative. So I donít know 🤷

You meant from the shot? Or before the shot?

My parents have the same symptoms: achy upper back/shoulder. Dad got his second shot few hours after I got my J&J while mom had her first Pfizer few days before me. They still have a slight soreness/achy feeling in upper back area.

Hmm, 12/2019 probably not COVID. Even if it might have been circulating, it wasn't all over. There's a ton of tropical viruses that could cause the same symptoms.

I had adverse effects to the Moderna shot (1st shot). Within maybe 3 minutes my whole body was numb and I was really dizzy continuously. Plus my heartrate dropped to the low 50's.This lasted for 8 or 9 days (I can't remember exactly). I'm general a healthy 47 year old fella that works out.

So no 2nd shot for me

Did they give you an EpiPen? Sounds like you might be allergic to the lipid particles. That seems to be what’s driving those reactions to Moderna. Pfizer sees less but still more than we see with J&J. If you do need a boost or whatever I’d do a non-mRNA vaccine.

Nope, I was in the ambulance twice as they checked me out. I waited another 15-20 then had to drive home.

The emt offered to take me to the hospital but I didn't go that route. My doctors still erge me to get the 2nd shot. No way in hell am I doing that after the reactions I had.

And you can't switch vaccinations at this point so ill be good with 1 shot for now.

Well I wanted to move my second Pfizer shot up to this week (Monday is 3 weeks since the first), but my only option available to schedule was tomorrow morning at 10 unless something else becomes available. So I'm moving from a Monday morning to a different Monday morning. Just gonna go get it done and cross my fingers no side effects that cost me billable hours. If I feel bad and have to suck it up for a day or two, so be it. It'll be worth it.

As of now, according to the CDC, Almost 130 million people 18 or older, or about 50.4% of the total U.S. adult population, have received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

Seems like Walgreens grossly overbooked today. Been here an hour and still waiting. Incredibly annoying on a day / week when I have no time to waste.

Damn that sucks. I was in and out in 30 minutes, expecting the same for second dose.
