Ask the EPA & NHTSA.

Short answer, it's too expensive to crash-test every iteration of a model.

That and I also think they’d rather sell the SUV’s they make here and don’t have to import. Has to make for higher margins.

Benz still has the E class wagon but I think I read you have to order it. I don’t think they get stocked at dealers. Could be mistaken on that.

What Was the First Tire Shine Ever Made?

The exact details of the oldest tire shine products are not well-documented, but it is known that early tire maintenance products date back to the early 20th century as automobiles became more prevalent. These early products were likely basic formulations of oils, waxes, and other materials intended to enhance the appearance of tires and provide some level of protection.

One of the early well-known tire care products is "Tire Black," which was introduced by the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in the early 1920s. This product was initially used as a promotional item to attract customers to Reynolds' tobacco products. It was essentially a carbon black-based paste that could be applied to tires to make them appear darker and shinier. While not a true tire shine product in the modern sense, Tire Black played a role in the early history of tire appearance enhancement.

I don't know much about the first tire shine products, but here are some products and advice from the good old days that can enhance your ride. --Bob

split apart a wheel I had laying around in anticipation of parts to rebuild it for my 540. I'm not totally sold on how they might look and how the specs will work out so doing one as a tester first. if it goes well I'll do the other three and get them mounted. should look nice with the M sport brakes behind

Just picked up the G31 from body shop, they’ve done a great job on the paintwork & fitting the splitter. Am very pleased & I think the splitter just finished the front of nicely

Local MB sales guy told me they sell about one a month. So at that volume it’s probably a customer order.

I thought there was a scratch on it until I zoomed in to see the ACS logo. Very nice! Now stop torturing us ‘Muricans with cool wagons we can’t get.

Today I replaced my years old and worn license plate frame displaying my alma mater’s name/logo with the BMW plain black slimline frame. It comes with black plastic screw caps that, if you read the enclosed directions, actually screw together. But being a normal guy who doesn’t bother reading directions I tried prying apart 2 of them before realizing I was doing it all wrong. Less than 5 minutes later everything is properly assembled on the back of the car. It looks great so I can recommend. Fortunately here in the land of bourbon and horses we’re a rear-only license plate state.

Ha my rear license plate proudly displaying my alma mater just broke off and I'm visiting my university next month so I'm going to go to the bookstore and get a bunch of swag, including new license plate frames for both our cars!
