Ad Blue
Anyone added any of this yet. I got a 1 late bottle with the car and suspect it’s time to add some...

The latest official test (WLTP) is much tighter, requires AdBlue to take us forward. I'm sure the next generation G2x models will also have SCR with AdBlue, at least in the larger capacity engine models.

After 10k Km iDrive showed Adblue top up would be needed after 7k Km; dealer put in a litre and expect that will get me to first service at 30k Km approx

Noticed a branded HGV delivering an entire load of Adblue the other day which got me thinking....
The gains I would imagine are marginal in terms of emissions reductions, I guess help car companies duck under Co2 targets and tick the euro 6 box but what is the environmental impact of production, delivery, packaging etc etc of the adblue ? Not a rhetorical question by the way, anyone ?

I don’t think they are marginal are they? They bring the NO2 emissions down to petrol levels I thought? Ie any tough legislation should not apply to cars with the adblue capability?

Ah thanks Zig that makes sense, about time we started taking NOx as seriously as our cousins across the pond.

New models under the new test regime will be cleaner, as they must comply to more a moe rigid compliance of EU6. Maybe they will get a new classification, we can hope. |

Hadn't thought about what the dealer said but I can see why you'd be sceptical...however, just checked iDrive and I have now done 19k Km with 13k Km to next service and Adblue level shows greater than 7,500 Km remaining (with a note to fill with half a litre) so that seems to tally with what the dealer implied.

And yes, further to above it was indeed one litre that was added at the time.

I had Ad Blue in my previous F11 5-series xdrive. To my surprise, it was really no hassle at all. I added 10 liters at 22 000 km driven and that lasted til I traded the car in. And it only cost me .. uhm like 15 euro I think. Needless to say I didn't bother BMW service with it.

I have moved away from Diesel cars, here in the UK they are going to caned for taxes. Unjustly I might add but politics dictate here rather than FACTS,
