Can someone define the term 'off'?

Not sure my company has ever heard of it!

Christmas day and boxing day off. That'll do me. Someone tell Jeremy Hunt that the NHS stays open for Christmas.

24th is my last day. I think it's a waste of holiday to take the quietest week of the year off, when the weather is bad....

Not at all, best thing ever, just an observation that the days seem to meld into each other with less definition than previously.

Cheers

I am / was thinking retiring early.

the main things that likely mean I won't are, I actually love my work and I seriously would not enjoy days with nothing happening..

That and my wife would kill me if I was home all the time

She nearly did when I was off for a full 4 weeks lol.

Then you simply have to make happen the things that you enjoy doing. Shooting, fishing, hiking, some volunteer work with an organisation that's close to your heart. So much to do, more languages to learn etc. Do you ride a bike, proper one, no pedals, tour about on it?

You are lucky if your wife doesn't want you under her feet, mine finds toooo much for me to do, usually concerned with flower pots, gardening and red squirrel preservation (which I don't mind).

Cheers

Yeah I could fill my time with stuff.

I have always done volunteer work since was about 30, one of my big convictions is that people should find ways to help others.

I hate gardening, I this old bloke come in to do ours, bottle of wine at Christmas, sorted

No doing a bike, I would kill myself.

Always plenty time for shooting and archery

If I did retire early, I would need my wife to work full time,

Alternatively I could keep working and spend more money

There's your answer then, get the wife onto full time, keep working yourself (until you no longer enjoy it) and spend even more money.

Job sorted!

I will be working right though, the joys of starting a new company and having customers, can't complain better this way around!!

Luckily no kids (till April) and a (reasonably) understanding wife.

Plus I fancy a car change in the new year so the extra cash will come in handy

Unfortunately i'm on call again this year, although i finish at mid day on the 25th Dec.
That's me off from then, untill the 4th, a couple of days back due to work commitments that i can't get out off.
Still got 15 days to take before end of Feb.
