I'd put my money into this before I put it into dollars.. 1 year t-bill @ 5.39% right now. You think about 300k cash into a 1 year t bill, earning you roughly 16k, what do you think these will sell for after a year of floating around?
Ford GT anyone? How many first-owners lost money on those?

I see too many shitbox Mustangs around here to take this seriously, in spite of the power and the price tag. If I was going to spend $300k, it would be on something else that doesn't scream "yeehaw, "meth lab," or "MOPAR."

Nothing against Ford and it's just my opinion, but that looks like the crapper door off a tuna boat. Wouldn't mind ripping in it, but 300? Negative.
Don't like the wheels, color, quarter vents or the bimini spoiler.
To each their own.

There will always be a sucker to buy a car like this or the many "special" Porsches, etc.

This Stang looks like a movie prop. I don't care if it even had 1000hp. It's dumb.

Actually would like to see the margin on these. I don't think they would be that high, if at all. R&D costs on this has to be quite high. I guess they would have spread that cost across with their GT3 racing program. GT3/GTD were developed side by side. The race tech going in GTD is not cheap. The rear transaxle/dct, carbon driveshaft, full carbon body, active aero, active suspension, spool valve dampers, magnesium wheels, carbon ceramics, titanium exhaust, rear mounted cooling, etc. That stuff adds up very quickly. Each one will be hand built from blank body-in-white chassis. That suspension is tippity top shelf, you honestly can't get any better(exotic car level).

Keep in mind BMW built a reskinned M4 into the 3.0 CSL and charged $750k. GTD takes a giant dump on that pathetic car.

Gonna repeat what else was said here, what was with the mid-engine rumors? I thought they were gonna push the engine down and back to make a front-mid style setup. But that x-ray shot looks like the engine remained in the same spot.

It was just that...a rumor. Someone heard Multimatic was building the car, so they probably made the guess it was going to be mid-engine. With that said, what they did do with the car is quite impressive.

Sorry for my lack of girlie knowledge but did they move the transmission in the back like a transaxle seen on the 928?

EDIT: Disregard. Found the answer in the text...D'uh...

No it uses hydraulic system like the Multimatic suspension in Ford GT and Aston Martin One-77.

You can see the suspension built into the hydraulic system, that also runs the active aero.

Long live the Pony, especially since the Camaro is dying (again) & Dodge is going electric these days...

I think Ford nailed it out of the park with this & I love it!

What a bunch of whiners. Porsche or BMW will never market a car with this technology for retail sales. So you prefer BMW M4 CS for $120.000 or a 2024 BMW M4 CSL for $800,000? Maybe you prefer a 911 GT3 RS at $250,000.00+. None of these will have the technology ford has packed into the Mustang GTD.

You missed my point. Risk free is what I emphasize. In 15 years a risk free investment (treasury bonds or TIPS) will double. That is the hurdle by which all other investments can be measured.

SPY or rare mustangs are both risk intensive investments.

The tires are hilariously wide. 325/30-20 fronts and 345/30-20 rears.

I’m totally in love with this thing.

Yeah it’s a dumb investment if that’s the only reason you’re buying it.

But! If you evaluate it through the lens of an expensive toy that is also unlikely to lose much value, even after reasonable use, then that’s a pretty nice setup.

Many other expensive toys or luxury experiences are likely to hold their value far worse (if at all) and therefore are more frivolous.

THat's obviously even more absurd than a $300k Mustang. Both are insane
