Dear members,

I am interested in upgrading from ID6 & 6WB cluster to the ID7 with the live Cockpit cluster.

I have found many donor cars whom still have the cluster, control panel display and the headunit on them. The price is also very doable for me here in the Netherlands.

I have 2 questions;

1. Do I also need the wiring harness from the donor car.
2. I believe that some coding will be required for this retrofit.

I would really appriciate if someone will be able to help me out with that.

PS: Please do not reply to this topic with your own negative opinion about the ID7. I've seen and used it by myself in my nephews 530i from 2022 and I really do like it so, let me decide it myself.

Hi ezaircon4jc,

Yes you're right, I've confused myself with the ID6/7 for the central control display in my previous post. The ID7 has indeed the 12,3'' screen.

I can get the display, head-unit and the cluster for about €1500/$1640. So this is indeed a pricey project but, the end result is worth for sure.

I Hope someone is able to help me out with my questions.

Also remember everything is via RAM modules.

You will need a new AMP also and I believe everything is over Ethernet

Hi everyone,

Just a little update. The guy from Instagram told me that I actually need only the Live Cockpit Professional cluster, head-unit, main control display and a "M-module". The wiring harness isn't needed. The only wiring that will be required is the link between the "M-module" and the BDC (BODY DOMAIN CONTROLLER).

He also told me that I cannot get any of this hardware of a random car, I guess that only specific part numbers will work and otherwise it wouldn't work with Idrive 6.0. I am a little bit confused about this because if I upgrade to a Idrive 7.0 unit I do not have the Idrive 6.0 running... So I messaged him about this to make it more clear.
