Coding Recommendations
Hi all,
I'm looking for a recommended coder to enable a few features for me on my G30. Specifically CarPlay (must be done with enet as I have a Q firmware ), speed limit info, and perhaps any other extras that may be recommended? I'm also wondering if fullscreen CarPlay is a good idea? I know that if enabled, you can no longer use the sidebar option which is handy as I tend to use the BMW navigation over google or Apple maps. Any recommendations would be great, thanks

Anybody?
I've also messaged Almaretto a couple of days ago without any luck. I'd really appreciate some help here.

For me, CarPlay is useless, as you can't use data from it in Headup display, which leaves BMW navigation system superior.
And I can't see any other feature of CarPlay, then using Waze/Google Maps, worth it. Maybe if you are used to Siri, then yes, but besides that, you can connect your phone via standard bluetooth connection and do calls without any problems. You can connect Spotify and other music apps also without CarPlay... ---- Otherwise, here is what I found useful and coded it myself: Default driving mode: Adaptive Auto Start/Stop: remember last setting Active Sound Design: disable Video in motion: enable Decreased heating power for the seats at level 1 |

The ability to use those apps wirelessly is its best feature, albeit having to also put up with its issues which also plague me. Tidal lossless streaming is its only real redeeming value for me.

I have CarPlay turned off and use BT for my iPhone. BT gives you Spotify and Pandora along with a backdoor way of using Plex. If CarPlay supported Plex directly then maybe it be worth it. But it doesn't and that is a big maybe especially since I'm not using it now and it's Free for the first year.

I agree using the BMW navigation is much better but I frequently get directions from friends by Google Maps, and simply tapping a pin and getting those instructions on screen has been useful and worthwhile. I also miss the wifi connectivity and the simple use of TuneIn, Spotify and my other apps too. I am however in two minds about fullscreen or not. I think I'll skip as it's quite nice to combine CarPlay content and iDrive content on one screen. If I could toggle it on and off, that would be perfect but I don't believe this is possible. From what I can tell you just get one or the other. I've been on holiday for a while now so I'm going to weigh up my options and decide on what to do. Ultimately, I'm rather bitter with BMW at the moment. They offered me CarPlay for 299eur following a 1eur trial, but refused to let me upgrade during the trial. As such, the price for CarPlay has gone up to 399eur and there's not a chance I'll pay that! I'm also reluctant to pay 299eur now....

That said, if you want something more complicated like anti-dazzle turned on then you're better of with someone who knows what their doing. The person I used was very professional and reasonable. His name is all over this site helping people out but I'll PM you his name if you want it.
