M cars and fog lights

I searched and couldn't find anything, I was wondering if there's any particular reason why BMW is not putting fog lights in the new M cars such as the new M3 and also the M package on the 135i?

Anyone knows anything about this?

Cuz when you drive an M car fast enough...you don't need no stinkin' fog lights.

I bet it has something to do with brake cooling ducts/vents. Just my guess...

A style change the M Division decided on to differentiate the cars from the standard road cars. None of the new Ms come with fogs.

From what I recall, the fog lights on many of the M cars were omitted to allow for more airflow into the brake cooling ducts. In my experience, the HID lights are so bright in comparison to the halogen fogs that the fogs are almost unnecessary.

They protrude airflow. So the ///M division deleted them.

I also thought about the airflow but that idea seemed so ridiculous, I mean that's the reason you have a bunch of designers with a bunch of engineers to do so, the fact of HID being brighter is not to avoid fogs, the reason for fogs is to have a low ample light to illuminate the road in foggy conditions something that HID is not to right?

I honestly have always loved the way BMW's look with the angel eyes on and fogs, something I won't be getting if I decide to go for a 135i, or wait for enough $$$ for the M3.

Glad you asked this question! Took me a few minutes to find this, but here is a little bit of info from BMW about the design and why there's no fogs. Read the first paragraph.

^^ Well, we can't argue with that,... Great finding, thanks for sharing.

I still don't think that the car shouldn't have fogs, from an engineer point of view the air restriction of a fog light could be minimal but yet important, however the designer should have come up with a solution to that, or at least I would've as a designer myself. Fogs are also a safety item.
