Being a mechanical engineer, I’m curious to see if there are any 530e’s with high mileage out there. I’m interested to see how the small displacement 2.0 holds out as the 5 series is no lightweight. To me, that translates to a lot of stress on internal parts.

Most of the manufactures now have been replacing thier powerplants with small turbo/supercharged fuel efficient 4 cylinders. A lot of heat and stress…thats a recipe for shortened life. That even applies to my turbo v8…lot of power for a small displacement engine.

Are we going to see a lot of engine replacements after the 100k+ mark? My son has a naturally aspirated V6 Ford escape with 210k miles…still kicking, but the minute you introduce forced induction to small displacement coupled with a heavy car, that changes thing.

Might want to check the F10 forums. There's a 535 (I know, different engine, but a turbo'ed 3L) over there with, IIRC, over 200K miles.

I don't yet have a high mileage 530e. I'm just in the 35K mile range, but in theory the 530e should age better than the 530i in that respect. The engine was detuned and beefed up while also being assisted by the HV motor. So it should take less of a beating and not more.

I have a 2017 530e with 98k miles on the clock. Running as sweet as a nut, just had in the dealership for brake fluid change. They gave the car a check over and found no issues. Love the car, I've had it for about 15 months, only issues were SOS battery that I replaced myself and a stuck closed charging door that I had to replace (common issue according to threads). I charge at home and in work, so if im proactive with changing running costs are low. Range is low bud adequate for me at the moment. So yeah, so far so good approaching 100k fingers 🤞 crossed.

That's great to hear. Any oil consumption?

Nothing of note. I only do 6k miles a year, so I would not have high usage, I stick to the maintenance schedule, but now that it's been mentioned, I'll check the level.

70k here on a 2018.
Only thing 2 weeks ago was a loose clamp that created a coolant leak. No oil consumption at all.

125k kms on mine, only issue so far is my AC compressor has failed. Its causing a CEL light. God knows what the dealer wants, I'll most likely try and DIY the repair using used parts then get a shop to charge with refrigerant.
