I haven't. They would just poke about for a bit and probably make it worse.

I actually took mine to a BMW dealer in FL last month and they said there was nothing they could do. They stated other 5 Series were having the same issue so basically deal with it.

Hi guys. Driving the X1, here is 23 celsius today and when I parked on sun for 2 hours I heard from vents the saˇe u describe here. So I guess it would be same problem in my new G30 too. Will see in July.
It stopped in 10min after turning on the AC.

Totally agree, less the service plays with my car, the happier I am. Nothing they will be able to do about this. Positive side, it does stop in about a minute.

After 3 weeks of the car I finally heard this and it sounds disgusting. Sounds like I'm taking ice out of the ice box. I think bmw should find s fix for this

I had experienced this yesterday when my 530e was out in the afternoon sun. Kinda surprised when I first heard it. Not a pleasant noise for sure.

Experienced the same thing on my first day with the M550i. The car was left in the sun for 5 hours and the temp is about 90F. Good thing I read it here first because it's pretty loud and scary.

The second day I put the sunshade on, same temp, no cracking noise. I will stick with the sunshade until BMW releases a TSB to fix it.

I have sensation dash with aluminum trim btw.

I direct the cool air to feet instead, yes not the quickest way to cool a car but stops the annoying cracking sound.

Funny that we need to "find a way" in a car for 80k €

Any recommendations for the dash sunprotection ? (I never used it)

I think it's not worth it. Unless the cracking is doing real damage to the car, it only lasts a few mins and who wants to faff about with a dash foil thingy?

What sunshade did you use? I can't find one for the G30 yet?

My dealer is ordering a replacement part for it. There is a 15-day backlog for the supposed improved part so it will be awhile before I can get mine replaced.

I have the Intro-Tech Ultimate for F30 and it actually fits just fine for G30. Bought it from AutoAnything.

Can't wait to see if this fixes problem. If it works does BMW do a recall?

I picked mine up on friday and was built end of May and i did not get any cracking sound.

It was in the heat all day saturday and its was 25 Degrees here in the north east which is really unheard of.

Got into the car put the Air con on and all fine. no cracking.Unless i got lucky will look out for it again but may have just got lucky.

Never buy the first cars out.
They always have teething troubles.
Many are back on the market here in the UK, they were not kept long for varying reasons.
