I know, there is a video for that too. I have watched it. A quick google gave me this, same thing:

I've run a few wires from front to back in my G30. For me, the easiest was to remove the A-pillar trim and run the wire behind the airbag up to the headliner. From there you can peel back the headliner just enough to push the wire up behind the headliner. You will need to use a tool like a coat hanger to feed the wire over the seat belts. From there, it's a straight shot through the rear pillar down into the rear trunk area. I've used this approach on both sides of the car but unfortunately didn't take any photos.

Thank u, sounds like it might be a bit too complicated for me to do! might have to just stick with the front one if I can't find any good instructions. Not too good with this kind of stuff!

I know, that's why I said "same thing" after quick google. You run the rear wire from the mirror cam the same way as in this video and plug it into the rear cam.

The BMW video is out there somewhere. You don't need to remove anything. Just use some vinyl tools and tuck.

Heads up to any users of this camera, I just let it overwrite but every so often (every 3 months) I wifi in to make sure it is working correctly. Haven't logged into it since October 2022 (busy life lol) but this past weekend I did- everything was good EXCEPT the date was now incorrect on the watermark. Immediately after logging into the camera the time updated to the correct date. I'd prefer the date and time to be accurate and if you all do as well, log into the camera with the app more frequently than every 8 months.

Is there no way to go along the roof liner from the rear view and then along the top of the piller rather than removing the A-pillar?

Maybe so, You should be able to shove the wire up over the headliner from the rearview mirror. It might be possible to force it behind the A-pillar trim without fully removing it, or as you suggest, you could certainly run it over the top. Aside from the appearance, my other concern is that the wire might not stay put and keep falling down from the headliner. Maybe you could find some small clips to keep it in place.

So my date issue persists which likely means the battery in the camera is dead. That's incredibly short life for a CMOS battery but even worse it's soldered on the PCB. Battery only keeps it from keeping the right time and date, still records fine. I'm just turning off the timestamp for now.

This dash cam looks awesome but I need one remotely accessable via SIM card. Kids starting to drive and they constantly ask to drive my car.

I actually saw this camera posted somewhere on this forum and gave it a shot.

www.fitcamx.com is the website.

Whatsapp: +8615014767002

The communication from the seller is A+. I connected thru whatsapp and he always replies and answered all my questions.

Includes a plastic pry tool, a 64gb microsd card and a usb to microsd adapter to load the videos to your computer if needed.

Install was very straight forward, has a video to follow.
The wire it came with was a little different than whats in the video, i'm guessing upgraded wiring.

Entire install took me 10-15 minutes.

Had to remove 3 plastic trims found behind the rear view mirror and replace the bottom 3rd one with this camera.

The video quality is top notch. I can easily read license plates in the video. The app is also very good with no issues. Definitely recommend this Cam!
The only problem with this camera is you won’t be able use the OEM sunshade.

Just installed the fitcamx in my G30. Was basically done in 20 min, but then spent another hour trying to tuck cables enough to get the last big piece of plastic trim on. The wiring harness I got was way shorter than what's in the install video, so everything is kind of bunched together right in the middle.

I got everything on and it works great, but the big connector is against a metal module up on the roof and between that and the vent in the plastic trim. When I drive around it feels warm. Not hot by any means (nowhere near the bottom of the camera), but definitely warmer than ambient.

Should I be concerned or take another swing at somehow placing the wiring better? I must have tried 8 different placements within 2 inches of each other before I was able to get the trim to re-seat properly.

And yah the cam does block my sunshade so now it just kind of leans up there held in by the visors lol.

So is your write up here for a front camera install or the rear? I assumed rear but the sunshade and visor comment threw me off.

Is the harness too short on the front cam install?

I’m still debating the front camera, no interest in the rear.

Front only. The wires are plenty long enough to plug together, there just is not a ton of slack to be able to tuck some of the more significant bits away like they show in the install video.

Only have had it for a couple days but other than that small nitpick the install was easy and cam seems to be working great! And I *was* able to get the wires hidden and everything, just making sure that having them up against whatever those modules are at the top of the windshield is okay.

Got it. Yeah, I remember from reviews and videos that tucking in the slack can be a bitch.

I ordered the FitCamX and it arrived today. The front of the camera has a open shape opening. Why is there a opening and what goes there? There was a sticky patch in the box. Is this to cover the opening? It looks out of place.

Yeah, use the black plastic with adhesive to block the opening. Think some vehicles have a sensor that fits in there.

Funny there's no mention of that black sticker. The install isn't hard, it's just hard getting the pieces apart and back together.
