The tape over the rear laser sensor and getting the software upgraded (they actually replace the whole radar) made a huge difference. My Valentine was probably 8 years old and now doesn’t give any false K or X signals like it was doing previously all day. . I even started to get nervous, because the radar is so quiet now lol

False Laser Alerts in BMW
Turning the gesture control "off" in the car does not turn of the lasers for the gesture control camera. Those remain on.
You have 3 options to stop false laser alerts inside the newer BMWs. 1)Small piece of electrical tape on the little red circle between the bogey counter window and the radar band indicator lights. 2)Completely tape up the gesture control cameras in the overhead console with electrical tape 3)Disable Laser detection on the radar detector. I have a new F90 Comp and I too am trying to figure out how to wire the radar detector. I thought of disassembling the overhead console and using a Mirrortap kit. Has anyone done this? I was previously using Savvy and I too am sad that does not work on a new BMW. I also use the V1driver app and the bluetooth dongle so I need to get power to both the bluetooth accessory and to the V1. |

I've seen this in a friend's car and we found out the detector was mounted too close to his dash cam. Move them far apart -> problem solved. Wonder if that's your case too?

2019 BMW X5 with Valentine1 radar detector
After installing my Valentine 1 radar detector on the windshield the radar immediately triggered Laser alarm from rear, all LED on, 3 dashes on.
Per my phone call with Valentine technical support this issue is caused by "Gesture control system" which operates on same laser frequency as police laser radar. According to Valentine 1 technical support only way to fix it is to cover the Gesture control system sensor (I do not know where it is). There is no way to disable it. So...I decide to experiment. I cut about 1/4 inch circle from electrical tape and glue it on the front of my Valentine detector on the red display screen where you see dark red circle. The laser alarm immediately stopped. I think this solution decrease or completely disabled the laser sensitivity from rear which I can live without it. I am in process testing if the front laser sensor is still working. My next experiment will be to replace the electrical tape circle with 1/4 inch circle tubing length about 1/2 inch around the Lase sensor. Maybe the tubing will shield the noise from Gesture control system and still aloud to pass the laser signal through tubing/sleeve and the rear laser will still work without interference.(Tip:I am going to use black rubber sleeve from the pen). I hope this may help to all Valentine 1 users. |
