Anti Dazzle and VLD - how do I know if it is enabled?

Sorry, new to this. I have watched a few videos on it. I took delivery on my car last weekend and I suspect the car was coded. Dealer did to a software update prior to delivery, but I don't think it over wrote every module because some things seem to be coded from factory default.

The man thing I want coded is anti-dazzle and VLD and I have it scheduled. That said, what's easiest way or test I can use to see if I have it. I have not driven the car at night yet, but I will.

Thanks, sorry, newbie G30 question.

Check out the front indicator. Is it a strip or is there a bulb. If a strip then you might have adaptive headlights. Now look at the words on the headlights. No words no adaptive. If it says adaptive then you've got them. Enjoy

I believe the OP is looking for confirmation, after decoding is reversed, that the adaptive feature is in fact working.

Drive along a road at night with auto main beam on. If it adjust the main beam based upon what's around then it's active

It's pretty obvious it's working
Example if you are behind a car it should split the main beam around the car in front to avoid dazzling the driver and any oncoming traffic

just to clarify: you manually have to tap the button on the left stalk to get the headlight icon with the 'A' in your dash each time you start the car for this?

Agreed this should be pretty obvious. Without it the Auto High Beams will just shut off pretty quickly whenever it spots another car. With this feature it largely won't shutoff and instead will move to beam around the car's FOV instead.

Thank you. I see you are in the UK, is "main beam" the same as what we call "high beam" in the US? I assume so.

So if I have this right:
Turn on Automatic High Beams (blinker stalk), if they don't revert to low beams and point out of harms way, then it is enabled, correct?

Assuming I have this right, followup question, can the car to be coded to always have Auto High Beams on (at night of course).

Thanks for this. Sounds like a pretty obvious test. I will check it out tonight.

Yes main beam = high beam

Light switch to auto
Press button on stalk , should have icon on dash with high beam symbol and an A next to it

Lights will then do their job subject to light conditions

Reviving this old thread to see if this question was ever answered: regardless of Anti-Glare and VLD coding ("undecoding"?), is it possible to code the car such that the button on the turn signal stalk doesn't have to be pushed every time the headlights turn on?

Unfortunately, it is not possible with G Series cars. I think I asked three different highly skilled coders since this thread hoping for a different answer.

I have a 2021 540 xi that I coded for VLD/AD a few months ago. Perhaps LCI cars are different, but the auto-beam function stays on in my car. As long as I leave the light selector in the auto position, I never have to press the button on the stalk to engage auto-high beams. If I switch the headlights to the off, park, or on position, it will turn off the auto-HB.

Once I put the light selector back in "auto" and engage the auto-HB button on the turn stalk, it will stay on indefinitely.

Regards,
Danny

That's interesting - maybe the LCI cars are different. I also have a 2020 VW Atlas and auto high beams could be coded (via OBDeleven) such that the setting was persistent - once set on, it remained until it was turned off (or presumably until the headlight dial was changed from auto).

Yeah, my bad in saying G-series. I saw you had a 2018 like me and the answer is unfortunately still no. It sucks having to turn it on all the time on every start.

My Auto high beam (A) stays on, but no Anti Dazzle as "tunnelling" happening, and the high beams would turn on only when there is nobody in front of me. So annoying

You have to have it coded. Without coding it's just auto high beams.

Is my lights hardware even compatible? I would think it's impossible without adaptive (side by side) lights?

You definitely need adaptive headlights and lots of cameras. So you headlights don't turn with the steering wheel?

None of the US spec LCI g30s come with turning lights unfortunately.
