These third party ones work fine.... But if bmw need to update your software, there's a very good chance they won't coz you've messed with the software. Lesson

I had no trouble getting my firmware updated with widescreen CarPlay; however, I had to reapply it after the update as the firmware update reset the entire head unit.

You are definitely right about applying CarPlay itself.

I would love full screen to be supported by BMW directly.
If it can be coded, why is it not possible to get this added at the dealership.

such a waste of space that 2/3 screen CarPlay.

Does coding fullscreen void warranty with car in anyway?

No it doesn't. FYI you can't do it with BimmerCode. It requires changes to the CarPlay.ini file located on the head unit for icon size and icon spacing.

Technically it is a hack, but it does work and does not void your warranty. When I took mine in for the backup camera recall they updated the firmware to EVO-S which removed it and most of my other coding. This is expected behavior since they are flashing the entire head unit. You will just have to reapply the patch after a firmware update.

It's safe.
