MY20 M550i - iDrive 7?
I'm about to start a 3-year lease on a MY20 M550i that I have not seen in person - YET. I'm coming from a MY18 530i. Other than obvious improvements (engine, suspension, etc.), and the headlights, what other differences am I going to see? I'm mainly wondering about MY differences - like, will this car come with iDrive 7?

Yes, iDrive 7 lite as has been discussed on here extensively. A search will yield quite a lot of details.

I think you mean full featured iDrive 7? Yes, it should along with DA Pro.

I am sure the first and most noticeable change you will see is your monthly fuel bill. That 4.4L V8 N63 likes to drink gasoline as it were water. Your insurance premiums likely went up too. Will be far heavier feeling car too, and more so when turning the bends. But it is a beautiful car nevertheless and it's own beast. My mostly city driving routine and very short commutes make the M550i a financial waste of time. It is a car made to basically live in the Autobahn all day long. It's a car meant to be driven across country, but not that the 530i is also a great highway cruiser as well. Enjoy it. The G30'may we'll be the last 5er generation that will offer a V8 engine. The future of the N63 is a question mark after the current generation reaches end of life production.

I can say the same for my 530i. I really enjoy my car. You can't go wrong these. Last week while my car was in service, received a 2020 G20 330i loaner. For a 3er it was nice, but man no comparison to the G30. Seats are hard and narrow, cabin is cramped to an extent, materials are not in the same league. You feel everything in that car. Our 5ers just gracefully glide down the road. I don't see myself going back to a 3 series anytime soon. I loved my late E90 but the G30 is just in a while 'nutter level!

Despite what you may see on the web, does your five will support four sensors. I called to verify this before hand and I am getting good readings on the front and rear. Pardon the dirty car. It rained on the way to the shop. |

Thanks for all of the additional replies. I should have mentioned that I have been driving BMW's since 1991 (E28 -> E39 -> E46 -> E60 -> F12 -> F10 -> the 530 G30).
While I will miss the 530's gas mileage that lets me drive until my bladder busts, I have missed the passing power the 650 had (and the 550 will be even more fun in that regard). My daily commute takes about 25 minutes that combines city and highway driving. I'll definitely enjoy the new 5. The dealer has done the rear camera recall and updated all the software, and I should be picking this baby up on Thursday. Keeping my fingers crossed... |

Totally agree.
My M550i gets about the same, or slightly better gas mileage than my previous BMW, an E46, 330Ci. That's kinda nuts considering the M550 has more than double the HP! Cruising the the freeway in comfort mode (only time I use that), I get close to 30 MPG I also find that with the DHP option, the M550 handles winding roads quite well at speed. As good as the e46 coupe. |

The deal is done, and she's in the garage. The two hour drive home was awesome.
Unbeknownst to me, the car has tinted windows. First time I've had them. I'll probably keep them, but I have the "dim cluster" problem in broad daylight. I gotta do some coding, anyways, so I'll address that while I'm tinkering. |
