You are correct to worry about a leased car. You are legally required to return it at the end of the lease in exactly the same condition as when you first leased it, normal wear and tear excepted. After all, it is actually someone else's car. The one exception is if you buy it out of the lease at lease end either directly or through the dealer. --Bob

I’m in this same boat now. Getting quotes for around 5k from armytrix, and fi exhaust but everytime I hear the Remus on videos I think it sounds the best. I’d be happy to spend a couple grand for exhaust but wasn’t expecting a 5k purchase (that doesn’t include a remote or app control for valves).

It’s between Remus and Fi right now. Both are similar price points, the biggest pro for Fi is the app/remote control OBD2 fi pro attachment which gives you the ability to open or close valves in any drive mode as you wish. Also you can switch between racing and street mode on the fly. Any big selling points for Remus? I’m a bit worried that FI might be obnoxiously over the top loud. Can someone chime in and help set me straight!? If either is loud in sport I’m fine with that, I want it loud when I get on it. What I don’t want is drone and to not be able to talk to my girl/hear my music when cruising in comfort. Help a brother out! |

Ill let you know once i get it installed but from the videos i watched and from what i hear from REMUS catback owners, the sound is amazing. Its the best value out of all the catback exhausts imo. To me it sounds the cleanest too. I dont need the loudest exhaust ever now. I want loud but also best sounding. |

I’m with you! Not looking for the most obnoxious exhaust. Would prefer clean german growl most of all. The type of sound that those who know will appreciate rather than an exhaust so loud that everyone turns and looks in disgust! Where did you order from a lot of places are in back order for the axel back portion of the cat back system? |

I think I am going to just keep front resonator and remove the rear resonator only and replace with a straight pipe and keep the muffler with flaps OEM and see how it sounds. "CHEAP and reparable)" that is of course if I can find an old fashioned muffler shop that actually has a welder!

Does anyone know whether it's possible to retain the stock tips when changing the exhaust?

Here's a hot take for you - pair the Dinan midsection with an Eisenmann sport rear, and keep the valves open all the time as when closed you will get drone (I use a CG Precision VSC-1 for this).
This is the setup I am running and I get compliments from everyone that hears the car, in or outside of it. It's the best sounding M550i I've heard. |

I have the Dinan X mid pipe but kept the stock muffler, sounds pretty much the same in Comfort mode but louder in Sport. Sound is exactly what I was aiming for, nothing too dramatic while keeping it looking stock. Only issue is in idle there is some interior drone until engine reaches 1k rpm drone fades away. I'd install the complete Dinan axle back if it improves the idle drone, but suspect it might make it worse. Anyone with this same setup please chime in with your experience regarding the drone.

Thanks for the suggestion, will try this and report back. I was starting to think one of the downpipes somehow got damaged during install and created a leak as the drone appears to be coming from the firewall area.
