Alpina won't sell the B3 and B5 in the USA because they are too close in proximity to the BMW M3 and M5.
Alpina offered the B6 in light of the M6 because the B7 ends production and Alpina would not have had a car available in the North American market.

I like the new Alpina forged alloy wheels on the Edition 50 cars better than the standard cheapy-looking Alpina cast alloy wheels. They should offer the lighter, stronger forged alloy wheels on all their cars.

Exactly. Though, even if that was the case, BMW SHOULD still do it. Even if it's close to the price you still see price cannibalization throughout the line-up anyways. 3 series costing more than 5, 5 costing more than 7, etc

I absolutely love my B7, Alpina blue in color over platinum and black merino. My lease is coming to an end on the M6 and I doubt I want another one or buy this one out. I am giving serious consideration to a B6 GC, only because it is available with 600hp and AWD. My other choices are the Panamera Turbo, Audi RS7. As for the wheels they really grow on you and look fantastic on the B7. I can post a pic later but someone already did on a black one.

I'm not sure, I buy this argument. It wouldn't make sense for them to sell these cars in Europe too, where the "proper" M-cars are on offer as well, would it...

Must be a different reason.

I'm going to guess it's because the US is BMWs biggest market for M cars, and they don't want to risk losing sales of M cars to Alpina in its biggest M car market. They need to recoup their investment, and they get most of it back with US sales.

Just a guess, I could be wrong.

Might be.

Then, they could play with the prices a bit to make the two car families less competitive (alpina more expensive than the M cars)?

And since alpina is meant for a different market segment than the M cars - some like their fast machines to be less shouty, and some others like the 4 wheel drive (think Canada) - there might be enough room for both car families to capture their markets (and actually allow BMW to sell higher number of cars).

Just speculating.

The lights in that showroom make those cars' beautiful finishes look TERRIBLE.
UGH - gives me a headache.
They should really consider using indirect lighting.

Other than that, those cars look fantastic! Wouldn't mind having the green one in my garage.

Alpina has been offering Akrapovic exhausts for (two ?)years now. I remember seeing it two or four years ago at Frankfurt(IAA) show. Alpina also lets you select various exhaust tip options.

Exactly, it's an acquired taste. I love the wheels but can't help wondering how long it takes to clean them!
