540i xDrive - MPPSK or Dinan Stage 1?

Considering getting one of these. Natural bias is to go OEM, but would love to hear everyone's thoughts on how they stack up. Thanks!

Installed Dinan Stage 1 a week ago, loving it so far. Install was a breeze except figuring out the power routing. if you have the 2nd battery in the front there's no room for the tune there. It has to go under the right side cover in front of the brake fluid reservoir, but the +12 cable will not reach the battery in the other compartment. I ended up tapping into the distribution block to the left of the engine and the negative reached to the main ground block on the front left of the engine bay.

Stage 1 gets you the full Dinan warranty as you're aware and it's cheaper than the MPPSK if you're only interested in the power. If you want exhaust etc., MPPSK may make more sense.

I had the MPPSK installed last week, I've not had too much of a chance to take the car on long drives so far but when I have driven it, I feel it's changed the car completely. There's definitely far more pull and urgency now and with the new exhaust sound it's fantastic. Even though it's quite cold here I've been driving the car with the sunroof open just to hear the full effects. The additional power of the MPPSK may not be as large an increase as the Dinan, but when coupled with the increased noise it does the job. Either the Dinan or the MPPSK is a good option, if you're not sure maybe the Dinan is the way to go first as if it's not what you want you have the chance to resell the box to someone else.

I went Dinan Stage 1 as well, and agree with some of the feedback/thoughts that have been posted...car feels "livelier" all around. I've gone with Dinan tunes or flashes with past cars, with no issues to report, and hence it influenced my decision to do so again. I also got the end of year 15% off offer which helped !

I called the dealer, apparently the MPPSK requires a torque convertor upgrade? Is this accurate?

I went with Dinan because the dealer wanted to charge me $1,500 for the MPPSK install. They’re charging me 9 hrs of install due to the torque converter replacement. I don’t think is cost effective spending $4K on a flash tune that only gives around 30 hp.

I had the Active Autowerke tune installed in the car but I had to return it due to transmissions issues. The car pulled hard but the transmission stayed in gear for a long time and the car was hesitating after 6.2k rpm, then it would pull hard again. It was kinda scary. I was afraid of braking something.

Let’s hope I have better luck with the Dinan tune since Dinan only gives you 3 day to return it if you don’t like it. It’s hard to make an informed decision in only 3 days.

Did you go w/ DinanSport or the Stage 1?
