Okay so what’s the move? Red blooded US of A? Going Japanese? Korean? Maybe Swedish?

So far front runners in no order are jeep altitude, durango r/t or telluride. Looking at something in the 50k range, all cash deal, I can’t stand having monthly payments, mortgage is annoying as is. Also with the way rates are/will be, no way in hell I’m going to borrow. This car is geared more towards creature comforts so handing/suspension are last in line. She’s thinking something like a Honda or Toyota but she’s salt of the earth type.

New or used? I really like the grand Cherokee. I think the Telluride is cool but I think a lot of those and Hyundais have been getting stolen around here. You basically live in a bigger version of here (Memphis). But maybe it’s not so bad in the burbs.

I don’t know how they price out compared to your preferred price point but I actually like the Volvo XC90 a lot. Hell, I like the V90 a lot.

New but not adverse to a under 10k miles cpo of some sort. Only really comfortable doing a bmw cpo since more familiar with the brand but it doesn’t fit the mold now. Yea city is a cluster fuck but burbs are more normal. I actually like the older model telluride. Either way the warranty and features Kia offers are incredible, even has nappa seats haha.

Yea I do like the Volvos but they’re a little too proud of their cars, just like range rovers. For the money the only amenity you get is a can to shit in.

If you don’t care about driver assistance and over the top safety, I get your point on Volvo. That’s what draws me there, and they look nice. But admittedly not a big fan of their interiors. And they’re boring to drive.

I’ve got a buddy with a Telluride. He loves it.

Lexus/Toyota? Definitely an easy ownership experience. Don’t have to worry so much about not knowing the brand.

A BMW friend has a Telluride and sings its praises.

However, if you wife will keep a car for a long time, get a Lexus/Toyota and call it a day. Yes, more expensive but they just last forever and hold their resale.

I feel like I'm late to the party with this one. Just got an OTA update for the M550 and its version number is 07/22.58

Does that mean it's from July of 2022 and I'm 5 months late?

Downloading it now, we'll see what happens tomorrow.

I do like the reliability of the Toyotas but for whatever reason they seem so boring. There’s nothing else to hang your hat on. We’ll prob keep it until 100k miles and a after market warranty will get us there.

Good to hear the positive review. I could never pay the premium associated with Lexus. My mom has one and other than the minimal increase in styling it’s still a toyota through and through.

No. I just received it too last week. No obvious changes I could see. I think it was mainly to correct all the sunroof issues known with the car.

Yeah, I debated adding this stuff to my santa list... but it's so much easier just to swipe the credit card. Still collecting my kit, will send pic when it all gets here. Going to try a rinseless setup, considering the teens and single digit temperatures next week.

Yep...went with a Lexus for the old lady. I don't want to know shite about that car....sorta set it and forget it. She had a Jaguar Fpace and I made her get rid of it. It had a lot more flare, was quick, but the bills would start stacking up after the warranty was out. We had a strut replaced...I asked them how much it would cost if we had to pay out of pocket...$2500. NUTS! I love the boring Lexus. More money in my pocket to spend on my hobbies.

The thought of driving the GX 500 miles to the beach was enough to make it worth to me to swap it out while it still has its value. But everything you said is logical and makes complete sense, on paper.

Nice! I’m out of Sonax but I’m waiting on Santa before I drop $80 bucks on a 5 liter jug. I’m actually considering trying Brake Buster as it’s much cheaper and although it’s not as good as Sonax, my wheels aren’t very dirty when I clean them and they are ceramic coated.

Haha yea I hear ya. If she really wants the Toyota then whatever. But like you said as soon as it’s purchased I don’t want to hear anything about.

For shits and giggles I tried 100% strength brake buster on the wheels to see if it even came close to sonax, that was futile. Pretty much looked like i took a strong pressure washer to it. Much like there is no replacement for displacement, there is no substitute for sonax.

Well there is my answer. I trust your judgement. Sticking with Sonax.

Are you using the all seasons or did you buy dedicated winters?

I got a gallon of Brake Buster. Works alright but now you've got me interested in the Sonax. I've heard their leather cleaner is great too.
