BMW Connected+ subscription ending

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hi everyone,

I'm coming up on one year of ownership of my 530e and I noticed that in the Connected Drive website when I logged in, I'm coming up to the end of a subscription for "BMW Connected+". I assume I was signed up for one year for this service when I purchased the car. BMW wants $24 to renew, but I'm wondering what exactly it does, as the website description of the service is a bit vague. It sounds similar to "BMW eDrive Services" which I'm subscribed to for 4 years.

Any more specific guidance on what exactly it does, and advice on renew or not would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance,
Bill

Connected+ lets you navigate to the doorstep whatever that means and let's you share your trip status with others. I let mine expire and I can't even tell what's missing. I hardly use the app anyway. It's so slow and clunky.

It also lets you do things like connect to your smart home accessories to control them from inside the vehicle.

Great timing on this thread - just got same reminder. Does anyone know if you can still send addresses/destinations to the car from the Connected Drive app once the subscription for Connected+ expires?

Yes, that's part of the ConnectedDrive service itself. You will still be able to do that within the app or on the website, you just can't share it with friends.

Thanks everyone for your collective input and wisdom. I think I will let the subscription pass, doesn't seem like I'll miss out on anything too major.

I suppose that's just the way of things to come nowadays with the prevalence of subscription-based services, so many little decisions, in this case even a year after the purchase of the car.

Kind regards,
Bill

Unfortunately I'm one of those guys that has to have every single option like the concierge service that I've never used once in the last four years.

The only thing I used it for was to share my drive on the way home with my wife each day. I used to use Waze for that, but figured since the car could do it, why not take advantage of it. Own that it’s expired, my option now is to pay $24 a year to share my drive, or just use Waze, which. I like better anyway. Waze it is.

Nope. Mine stopped sending messages from the app. Only that works is if the phone is connected to the car, then you can send addresses directly to the navigation.

I only have connected drive, not the plus version, and the send address to navigation works for me. Perhaps you need to reinstall the regular app.

I send mine from the app to the car all the time without plugging it in. That works exactly the same as it did before I subscribed to the plus version. Same with my previous vehicle.

That used to be the case with my F32 too. But it doesn't work anymore unless you have the plus.

Interesting. I was doing this in my '17 X6 through December and I never had the Connected+ subscription until my current G30.

Can anyone who let their subscription lapse confirm whether BMW pricing changed after expiry (i.e. is renewal cheaper than starting a new subscription)? If there's no change, I might just let it go to see what happens. Can always enable it again. I don't use the the 'send to car' feature a lot, but it is handy on occasions.

I let my connected+ lapse. It still performs send to car from within the app and also send destinations to car from Google maps.
In other words I can't tell what I've lost by not renewing

I don't think I've ever had it in my car, yet I can send to my car from my app, and also share my arrival time with friends (the wife), through ConnectedDrive within the car....

Could someone provide perhaps some screenshots or overview on this share function and how it differs?

I only send to car when I'm in the car anyway, though bigger debate is probably what I do with SiriusXM once it expires in a year...
