There should be no discussion on them refunding you your deposit. Of course if they put money into the car for upgrades or things you asked them to do such PPF or a spoiler etc. that’s another story, but that hasn’t happened.

Just tell them you’re not comfortable with the rebuilt title and the modifications. Buy yeah, cc dispute and done if they give you shit. Black and white.

I asked him if he could ask the tech exactly what the problem was and he left me on delivered until a hour or so later and said he was talking with a customer and just wanted to call me tomorrow about the issue.

If it’s some bs how should I go get this refund? I payed with card 7 days ago.
people change their mind all the time when they buy cars. the deposit your thinking of isn't a non refundable deposit to seal the deal.

its just a normal deposit while you go through the process. all it takes is a "i decided not to go ahead with the purchase and need my deposit back".

dont see what the big deal is at all and why you are concerned.

This. There's no need to give them any explanations. Just say you changed your mind, you don't want the car and ask for your deposit back. Be bold and just ask for it, clearly the car has issues. Don't let the dealer talk you into still taking it.

Get the deposit back. All the stuff they already said - ditto.

how would you go about the refund if you was in my shoes? Also if I am able to get my refund or not, I might look around for a another g30 but I lokey just don’t know how many miles is considered safe to mod… All I know is that the b58 is like that off the line and type reliable compared to other bmw engines after doing the research & I need it in my lifeif you got any advice please let me hear it
There is no mileage where it is really safe to mod, as lots of mods are mostly excess wear and tear on existing components, unless done with sympathy for all of the mechanical parts involved.

Most mods that most people do give either largely superficial enhancement (spacers, lowering springs, bodykits, etc.) or actual performance enhancement that improves one thing at the cost of another--a balancing act.

And usually, when you sell the car afterward, most people don't want it for the same reason you don't want a modded car to start with. Used and abused.

You either have the cash to deal with the damage or you don't. Modding a newer BMW 5 series is not a budget-friendly activity over time. As for your downpayment, just say you want it back. If they refuse, you will probably need an attorney.

That sounds illegal. Note to self, never look at a car from this seller. I did peruse their website, all high mile cars or cars with title issues or have been in accidents. This is a typical sandlot.

I'm glad the dealer actually was honest to you. Most others, given how far the purchase process had gone, would just say everything has been sorted out and some softwares required updates.

Also, there is a very specific sequence you have to do to the steering wheel stalks to activate odometer stoppers. It's extremely rare for someone to trigger that randomly as I'm assuming that was what happened. Cheap ones will cut out your engine rpm and speed, but more expensive ones can cut out only your odometer reading so you don't even know it's running without driving the car a good distance. BMW ECU records engine HRs as well so comparing that to distance driven can help spot out cars with odometer stoppers

Yep. As I said at the start: Any shop selling you a car with cosmetic add-ons like that is likely hiding something.

Only buy clean cars from networked dealers or, if modded, someone you know and trust.

Glad you got refunded.

if you used a credit card (never use debit) you can easily call the CC company & dispute the charges.
