I've been assisting my mother who recently purchased a certified preowned 2018 540i Msport.

When she purchased a car a few months ago she wasn't sure if she wanted an extended warranty didn't know which one to buy so she waited I've been helping her do the research and advised her to get the CPO wrap extension which is what I had purchased in the past on my car and paid $4000 for two additional years for a total of 84 months from the time of original in-service date.

She has been dealing with the dealership that sold her the car but they kept trying to push her into their own third-party Brandon warranty and did not even give her a price quote for the BMW CPO wrap. Big surprise their third-party warranty cost almost $1000 more than the CPO extension.

I contacted Steve Thomas BMW which is a dealership in Calabasas in Southern California. I have read good things about them on this forum and have bought a car there years ago and had a good experience I know they sell a lot of warranties over the phone and so I got a quote they agreed to sell me the warrantee out the door 4000 even. I actually called the other dealership where we bought the car which is much more conveniently located and offered to give them our business if they would match the price they actually refused and told me to go buy it from the other dealer… I found that odd that they would pass up the business I am under the assumption that these CPO extension warranties sold by Bmw have a fixed price and likely a fixed profit margin for the selling dealership?

I didn't bother to find out why they wouldn't sell it to me I happily gave my business to Steve Thomas who gave me a great deal.

The woman I dealt with at Steve Thomas is named Theresa - I wanted to give her a positive review here given that she was very pleasant to deal with.

The warranty that we purchased is the certified preowned platinum wrap 84 months.

I have no affiliation or connection to this dealership, I just wanted to provide some positive feedback

I contacted them as well for an extended warranty and their price was very fair.

I ended up declining as I'm good with DIY and a friend has a shop. I usually preemptively change stuff out before it fails so extended warranties haven't been a good value for me in the past.

I haven't pulled the trigger yet, but I also have had a great experience with Steve Thomas and plan to buy from them in December 2022 as my CPO is up 1/1/2023. I have been working with Christine Newman there and I also found my way there from this forum.

I do think the incentives for the sales people is much less on CPO vs. aftermarket, which is a conflict of interest. However, when I asked Christine for aftermarket options to compare, she sent me a few but went on to say that none of them are as good as CPO.

I live in MA where manufacturer extended warranties are not refundable pro rata if you cancel, they are attached to the car. However, CA laws are different and the CPO is cancelable and refundable should I trade the car before it is up. CA purchase it is.
