The document shows that the CPO Platinum and the New Car Extended Platinum plans are identical in coverage, but I believe they differ in terms of mileage limits. My car is not CPO as I purchased it new.
Thanks. Lots of decisions and reading to do before my warranty is up.
I'm still under original warranty until October and then under the CPO for a year after that. I'm absolutely planning to piggy back on all your warranty research.
Deal!
Yes the warranties in California can be refunded prior to this car my mom had a 2016 535 she'd only had the car for a couple years and it was totaled. She was able to cancel the balance of the contract I got quite a big chunk of money back.

I will check the fine print on the Hendrix warranty but they claim it is platinum coverage bumper to bumper minus wear and tear items. The dealer is alleging it's a better warranty than CPO extension with the only exception being there is $100 deductible for each time it comes in for service.

I'll get the fine print and look at the X exclusions and post later this week. Thanks everyone !

Keep in mind the dealer commission is most likely significantly higher with the Hendricks. Never completely trust the guy pitching you this stuff as there are conflicts of interest all over the place when someone is recommending one product over another and there are incentives involved.

Yup, impulse buy. If you have been driving German cars all your life like me, you know the value of a drivers car. The Maserati had more body roll than a minivan. It would feel very unstable at anything over 85mph. The engine sounded more powerful than it was. Very slow off the line. Interior was cheap and technology was weak for the class the car was supposed to be in.

I could have gotten over the technology, cheap interior and even the 400hp not feeling like 400hp, but the body roll was just a killer from a drivers experience.

Fellow enthusiast friends warned me, but I did it anyway. Big mistake.

I am facing the decision to buy an extended warranty in the next 30 days, so I am wondering if any of you price shopped among BMW dealers prior to a warranty purchase? Years ago, I purchased a Nissan warranty and realized that prices for the same plan varied (by a lot).

BMW CPO extension is priced fixed by BMW. $2500 for one year, $4000 for two. Dealers have no room to negotiate, this is why the dealer often pushes the third party warranty in which they can set the price and negotiate. The first thing they do is ask you to bend over. The commission is much more attractive on the after markets.

Unless you are really going to comb through the terms and conditions and research reviews for aftermarkets, CPO is a no brainer for peace of mind. It includes everything. Never trust the words of the person selling the third party warranty to you.

My new car warranty expired in Nov. I have an 18 540ix Msport. Would u guys recommend Hendricks or another top tier 3rd party warranty ? I reside in northern NJ. Only 36K no issues at all besides blue tooth randomly disconnects which dealer couldn’t fix without charging me $300 since Bluetooth electronic issues they stated was not covered under bumper to bumper.

You can reach out to Christine @ Steve Thomas BMW and see what they can do for you. They gave me a deal on my BMW ESC, but it wasn't CPO. The side benefit of them is CA requires prorated refunds so you can unravel it if the car is sold and whatnot. Usually BMW doesn't allow you to unravel as they "attach to the VIN".

Also, if you're interested in looking at the exclusions under the BMW plan. I've already shared those in the thread in Post #6.

With that low mileage I'd say you're probably safe skipping the warranty TBH. But you can compare costs and see where you feel comfortable...

That said... Your dealer sounds like one you need to dump if you can... Bluetooth would obviously be covered under the bumper to bumper... I'd ask them to point out the exclusion in the warranty for it...

Thanks for the advice on warranties. In my case, the BMW factory warranty expires in March 2022, but my CPO warranty then takes affect and is valid through March 2023. In 2016, I purchased two other BMWs with CPO warranties and seem to recall that one has to buy a BMW extended warranty prior to the expiration of one's factory warranty. Is that correct or can I delay the purchase of the BMW extended warranty until March 2023 (when my CPO warranty expires)?

I'd be interested to hear someone else answer this also, but I'm in a similar position and was under the impression I had until the CPO runs out to make that call. I think my factory warranty is up Oct '22 and my CPO will go to '23

Earlier post was correct - the quote was exactly $4000 to extend to 84 months.

You have to pull the trigger before current CPO is up. Simple as that, even the day before. $2500 for one more year, $4000 for two. Fact, no negotiating, that's current nationwide pricing.
