Not I thing I do, although Mrs Chappers used to call the e36 Tibble as it’s reg ended in TBL, & the 35i was just referred to as “The scary car”...& tbf I suppose it could be a little scary at times if you were in the passenger seat & the G31 I just call the G31, as for gender…they’ve all been/are gender neutral

I named my e39 M5 "Georgia" and then after named my 535d "Georgette" and now my m550i is named "Georgiana". Not sure why I decided to name my cars but I always felt like paying homage to my e39. My wife named her first car "Baby Red" and now her SQ7 "Baby Beast" which interior has red lighting and highlights. I guess we are oddly sentimental about our older cars.

My G30's randomly assigned license plate starts with GLF (vowels are not permitted) and then numbers. So I think I'm going to call it 'Golf' or 'Good Luck, F@$%er' if it ends up being a lemon.

Our kiddos name our cars. So we have Kevin the X7 and Bernina (530e). Bernina doesn’t rhyme but they thought the color of car was fun! 🤦🏻‍♂️

That's great! And love the Bernina color. If I let my kids name the cars it'll be something like Dumbo Fartmobile (mine ) and Princess Unicorn Breathe (wife's). They are all about smells.

Naming a car is definitely something I’d do, especially one I have such emotional attachment to like the M550. I’ve had three cars like that, including this one.

This thread has frustrated me because I can’t think of a good name for it. All I know is I routinely walk up to it and think “that is one bad motherfucker”.

My wife named her BSM E89 Z4 “Sparkles” after she saw the paint. I’m not as clever as her and because my G30 is the second 550 I’ve owned, I refer to it as “The Five Five Two” or simply “The fifty two.” Same goes for my M4 GTS, it’s simply “The GTS.”

As far as referring to vehicles as she, I’ve always done that. Whether it’s my cars or the airplane I’m flying for work. I like to think of it as “if I take care of her, she’ll take care of me.” Somehow it just seems appropriate.

My M550i is called Beowulf. He is a Geat from North Germany and fights monsters such as Audi and Mercedes all day. In addition to some imposter monsters such as Chevy, Dodge, and Ford.

And the car reminds me of a polar bear in white.

Bjorn certainly knew how to spec a BMW; I reckon we'd have gotten along quite well.

We usually refer to ours by color ("the blue one," etc.), with one exception. Since new, my e39 540/6 has been known as the "Ubersled" (referring to Col. Stapp's rocket sled from the 1950's). I was impressed by its acceleration!

Haven’t named a car in a long time. This one deserves one and this thread made me want a name for it, but I couldn’t think of a good one. Finally, it just came to me.

Savannah.

Long story short, I just got done with a 1500 mile road trip. Savannah Georgia was not on the itinerary. But I ended up there on a whim, and it was the best part of the trip. It is the first time I’ve ever gone on a trip like that in a car by myself. In fact, it is the most miles driven on a road trip ever, for me, alone or otherwise. The car performed flawlessly and it was a dream. I can’t wait for the next one.

Therefore, 11 months into ownership, I’ll call the M550 “Savannah”. Favorite car named after my new favorite southern city, which the car took me to on the tails of a random thought on a Sunday morning after I woke up on John’s Island, SC.
