G30 ACC - Spec check (please help if you have ACC!!)

Hi all,

Looking at getting a G30 (pre-LCI) and i'm wanting to get ACC.

From research i've done it looks like it can be specced as part of Driving assistance plus (sometimes called DA professional) or as a standalone option.

As i'm looking up cars on autotrader (and doing VIN checks) i can't figure out what the option pack is....(looking online it might be S5DF or S5AT).

Can anyone with ACC help by either confirming what the package is they have or PM me your reg so i can figure it out myself?(if they wouldn't mind )

Thanks in advance!

ok after 2 hours of trawling through autotrader and finding UK cars with ACC i can confirm (i think) that it either comes as part of Driving assistance Plus S5AT or individually specced under "Active Cruise Control+Stop&Go Function" S5DF

If by ACC, you mean Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go, the option you are looking for is ZDB - Driving Assistant Plus Package with 5AT - Active Driving Assistant Plus. I've got it on my pre-LCI 2018 and it's one of my favorite features. I think it works great in both city and highway driving. Must-have in my opinion.

BMW descriptions:

Driving Assistance Plus Package (ZDB)
$1,700 (USD)
Active Driving Assistant Plus, active cruise control w/stop and go, active lane keeping assistant w/side collision avoidance, traffic jam assistant and evasion aid and cross-traffic alert front. In addition to the contents of active Driving Assistant (below).

Driving Assistance Package (different option than above)
$1,700 (USD)
Head-Up Display, Active Driving Assistant, blind spot detection, daytime pedestrian protection, frontal collision warning w/city collision mitigation, lane departure warning, speed limit info and cross-traffic alert rear, Active Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Warning.

Hope this helps.

As Spyder3 said, the code you’re looking for for pre LCI is 5AT. I strongly suggest looking at the pricing guide for your region and the model/year you’re looking at. Makes it very straightforward to determine what’s what.

Give away if it is fitted are the radar sensor under the front bumper as stated and the steering wheel buttons are different as well to cater for it

Agree a useful feature, the traffic jam assist is I feel the better part of it. Motorway use is adequate and certainly useable but it does have it issues which you would get to know and know it’s limitations.
Depending upon the country you are in , you may get lane change assist aswell.

The LCI does improve this quite a lot.

Yeah, the easiest way to be sure is to look at the steering wheel. If you see a button on the left hand side with three horizontal line, the car has it.

Ha, I know what you mean. I can pretty much spot all the options from pictures. Good luck with the hunt.

I just went through this on my M550i hunt. Dealers were terrible about listing options so I just started looking for the radar cover in the lower bumper which proved to be much more fruitful.

To add to this.

If you get a MY2020 with this feature be sure to convince the dealer to update the car to the latest version. I find it much more stable on the latest software.

It wasn’t terrible in older versions, but it had a bit more “ping pong” to it when traveling than it does now. It is a lot more “tracking stable” if that makes sense.

But as AP noted. The LCI handles this better.

Don’t skip the option though. It is one of my favorite options and, to me, a must have.

+1, ACC is a must. I can't even use old school cruise control anymore. It is more work than just using the gas and brakes.

Hi, I’m looking at a G31 car that does not currently have ACC. Was the retrofit you did a software only update or were there hardware changes involved pls? I am thinking at the very least a new stalk would be required?

Thanks

At a minimum you'll need any wiring harnesses and the radar up front.

The car is an LCI model with ID7. I test drove it yesterday and on inspection does not appear to have the radar module on the grill, so looks a non starter for a simple ACC retrofit.
