I put them on. The way I look at it is if it’s on the M550 in other markets, it’s kosher. I like the look. Grill stripes have never been BMW inspired in any way.

Is Canadian location the same as Europe? How’d you get your placement right? I don’t trust the dealer to do it right

I believe so. When I did mine, the placement of where it is was the only place they put it. They started putting it lower on some LCI’s but not all the time.

I did a shit load of research, asked people who had it to send me measurements and studied a million online pictures. I made a schematic, happy to share if you pull the trigger. No need for the dealer. Peel and stick.

NGT2 , found it. Also, 430Scud can comment on Canadian placement. Didn’t need the double sided tape. I was thinking I would temporarily stick it to make sure it was right, but basically, draw a dot at the corner of the ///M and use a level while sticking it.

I would agree with those numbers. I just double checked and my factory placed emblems are about 1/8" longer than what you have posted. Close enough.

What I just don’t get is what exactly goes through the minds of people that do this? Are they trying to fool someone? The only people that would know what the badge means knows there is no such thing as an X5 M from the prior gen X5 and the current X5M badge doesn’t look anything like that monstrosity. I get it, to each his own, but just have some class.

Well now you got my OCD going! What do you mean by longer Dave? The ///M badge in my schematic isn’t to scale. The round dot on the bottom left corner and the vertical and horizontal measurement from the fender edge intersection was what I used to place the corner of the badge.

Badge position, I noticed this too .... here's the official press photo for the G30/31 M Sport Edition......





and here is the UK version (my car) M Sport Edition.... badge much lower.... Guess it was an LCi change in the UK

Yep, that last picture is the placement you see rarely, but came from the factory like that. I think it looks good in both places.

Those measurements are nearly spot on. I got a nice clear photo of a 2023 M550i fender with badge from a Canadian dealership advertising on YouTube and converted the photo measurements to my car. I used all the tools listed ( level, painters tape, non perm marker and flex ruler). Be sure to level the badge to the car lines (I leveled according to the rocker panel top).

Having just had my weekly look at G31’s on AT all the m sport lci G3x’s have the lower m wing badge placement, had never noticed before.

The fender vent really helps with placement when using/studying online pictures. It's like an anchor.

You’re all good! I think the distance and shine in the photo picking up the parking lot asphalt reflection may give the illusion of crookedness, but they are straight and leveled.

Went to the body shop this afternoon, had a good chat about the car & have taken their advice to leave the bonnet as is. The guy remarked on how good the paint is including the bonnet, even after my repairs of the myriad of little stone chips. He agreed about the bumper, spoiler & trims & said they could be made to look 100% again.

So to remove the spoiler & bumper, prep & repaint spoiler, bumper & fog light/vent trims, put it all back together & fit the ACS spitter….£1,465 ($1,865) Yeah I know it’s on the pricey side but am very confident in them doing a good job & having already been to three other bodyshops that wouldn’t even price the work I’m just gonna get it done & it’s not as though I have anything else to spend the money on & it’ll will be worth it to not see the road rash & peeling laquer every time I clean it
Have just emailed them back agreeing the quote & will give them a call tomorrow, waiting time on bookings is two to three weeks & they’ll want the G31 for three to four days.

Not to keep this going, but I am not sure the lower placement is the way all Canadian cars come. I have seen a lot of Canadian cars with it in the higher spot. 430Scud for example.

Maybe the Canadian LCI's have the lower placement? All the pre-LCI Canada cars I have seen are up high. Maybe I'll figure out a method to their madness. The lower placement is definitely the least common.
