It just seem like negligent on the quality control, especially since there's so much hype on the launch of this new vette and it's literally right in front of your face. But i'm sure they've addressed it due to the PR storm it got.

I don't know what you guys are complaining about. It costs a LOT less than a Porsche. It costs a LOT less than a Ferrari. And yet it will keep up with them, and depending on driver mod, might beat them too.

It took me almost a year of ownership of my M car to notice that the carbon fiber trim is real. And all I thought was "oh.... so that's where the money went". I'd rather take quickness instead.

it really comes down to how the car make you feel when you're in it. if it's about going fast and cost less... then really, a lot of cars can do that.

Well, kind of. "Weave" pattern CF is usually cosmetic and for appearance. Unidirectional layers are for strength. Lots of places use UD and then a weave pattern for the very top layer, for the cosmetic effect. Lots use weave patterns when they could use UD, although UD is harder to work with.

Random question for the minds of this thread, I should go ask the Corvette forum but lol figured I'd see what you guys had to say first:

Friend of mine after looking at too many C7 GS and Z06 lately has decided that for $ spent on one of those two cars he would rather have a C8. Problem is, he needs one in his possession by June (for... Reasons.) And he doesn't want to pay over sticker...

I told him this is a pipe-dream. Agree or disagree? Anybody want to give it odds? Lol

Agree. I am status 3000 so supposedly Chevrolet will build me a 2020 whenever they get back in the factory. I’m not anticipating a car in my hands until September or October if at all. Now he could get lucky and get a C8 at sticker if things worsen and is not picky on options.

Yeah, I told him the same thing, he either needs to get realllllyyyy lucky or pay over sticker haha
I know he wants Z51 mainly as his only 'picky' option

It does seem like a few dealers have inventory on the C8. Might be worth contacting a dealer to see if the will take a MSRP offer or slightly above. They might just want to turn inventory wherever they can right now.

Some of the deals on the current Z06 and GS C7s are really tempting though.

I did see an article that had a title along the lines of Manufactures wanting to turn production back on in May, but the UAW was having some push back.

If he is still asking, the odds have to be near zero at sticker. The only question in my mind is how much it would cost buy someone out to get the car so early.

Yup saw that this morning ^

In short he says:
- great car, but you get what you pay for, no quality control in terms of panel gaps interior and exterior
- DCT is very good and responsive.
- Ride Quality on bumpy roads is excellent. Only behind the Phantom and 720s.

Torn between two loves Porsche Carrera S or C8 Corvette convertible. 40k difference on price, maybe 1 second difference on track. Is 1 second and the intangibles worth $40k?

I'd venture to guess that the 2021's will have improved fit and finish. First year Vettes are always a work in process.

Couldn't see my self spending another 40-50K for a comparable 911 unless I really, really wanted a Porsche. Which I don't.

After about 75-80k, performance of cars on the market is relatively flat whereas dollars spent is not. So it comes down to driver enjoyment and whatever else someone may value.

How did/would you spec your 992S? You shouldn’t need to add more than 10-12k in options. My dealer is willing to sell me any 992/S/4S for 10% off sticker so there’s that too. Also, if you wanted manual the 992 is the only way to go. Though, PDK is still the best dual clutch on the market. If you’re still looking for a 992 let me know and I can get you his contact.

I have a GT4 allocation with a July delivery so I am going to take that vs a 992 unless something changes.

I think both attract attention. My Porsche negotiation will start at 10% off sticker!

The C8 is getting more attention from both those who know what each car is and those who don't.

Love everything about this car! The rear spoiler bugs me. It seems out of place and or too Camaroish.

Agreed. The polished wheels are gone, but now we've got two tacky wings to choose from. Both are bad.
