If they wont give it to you, take it anyway !

My workplace sucks, actually... my manager sucks.
We "don't get time off" and "not allowed leave"

SO.......... I tried doing it right, I dont like to lie and asked for time off, my role was covered no issues BUT IT WAS,..... RIGHT

SO.... I decided to get even- NOT MAD... I left it a few weeks, and then I phoned in sick. So now instead of being able to plan my job with a controlled leave, they will have to run around looking for somone to now cover my job.. Do I care... PFFFT as I drink my cup of joe at my favorite diner , Fuq NO!

and to celebrate I went tp my favorite diner and had a full breakfast platter, looking out the window at my bmw, drinking the best Goddamn coffe I ever tasted

I never eat the pancakes I take them home and I can't stand homefries and bacon... SOFT !!!!!

ahh what can be better than eating Pigs and chicken offspring for breakfast

If you’re a contract employee (an oxymoron, really a contractor), you might want to spend some time reading up on contractor law in your state. Especially tax law. If the company crosses the line, you might be an employee, making them subject to employer taxes and you eligible for employee benefits.

Controlling your time is one of the elements, usually.

you know, the first few events of well... really you don't get time off.
I did look that up, but I'm not south of the border, I'm in the great white north.

but your comment "Controlling your time is one of the elements, usually" I did see in a few posts.

what happens in my case, (just to expand as were here now )

I have incorporated my business, and I'm an employee of my company.
My company "me" works for a contracting IT company, we'll call this company A. company A, secured a contract for me with company B.

Company B, pays company A for me, I invoice company A

So I really work for company A, on a site of there choosing, company B who I go to and work for, are giving me the grief

Not sure if that's clear ?

I'm in a generous mood tonight and I think I've deciphered this one. So here's my summary of how I'm interpreting this:

- wanted to request time off the right way, by asking for it in advance

- bitchass boss denied request

- so instead of planned time off, got revenge by calling in sick for 6 days creating lack of coverage due to unplanned out of office, screwing over bitchass boss

- celebrated with eggs and bacon and coffee

funny enough I was stone cold sober (6pm local time) that's probably more scarier than writing it drunk

I can't actually drink anymore, I think it's my med's

after one drink I'm done I feel pretty sleepy, either the beta blockers or what

Although I had a mimosa last night (1oz grape juice, 2oz vodka and 4oz sparkling white wine) and that put me out like a light, I allow my self one drink a week or 2.

As a contractor did you consider taking unpaid time off? While this may be implied for those who know your employment status, I ask for sake of completeness.

When you read your contract, what did it say regarding time off, either paid or unpaid?

I still like reading these escapades.

At the moment I'm lucky enough to have a job that is lenient and I can take time paid or unpaid. They know that I have a side gig and that requires time. And i only work 4 day weeks. How long they will be understanding, that is unclear.

In the FAA the rule was anything under a year's (2080 hours) saved sick leave was "use or lose." Earning 4 hours per pay period (26 pay periods) would take 20 years of no sick leave to save enough. At that, it only added a year to your total retirement years. I only know of one guy that actually saved enough s/l. Most of us looked at it as "use or lose." I ended my career with a zero s/l balance and no sick leave abuse letter!
