Hi Guys,

What's the best mmi box for g30s? Mine is 2018 model so no carplay etc.

Bluetooth oem connection etc.
I don't like the idea of aux I think it will be more cables and lesser quality on the audio.

I think all these MMI boxes regardless of who is selling them are manufactured by the same company. I believe they are all connected via AUX which in return degrades the audio quality and in return you lose steering wheel functions for track selections.

Unfortunately it's not going to happen on an iDrive 6 model. I'm using an old iPhone without a sim and Carplay to accomplish what I want since I'm an android user. My Samsung connects to idrive for phone calls still and Carplay for Google maps and Spotify. Do a search, I explain in detail how I accomplished it.

Wow that's a lot of messing about to achieve this. Highly commend the effort tho.
Im still debating the mmi.

I have tech pack in my car so don't know if the mmi box will effect it?
It's semi automous driving.

If you use e.g. bimmercode, MMI may block the possibility of coding. I had MMI Andream, it worked fine, but I changed it to an Android screen, a larger size of 12"

I have a 2018 G30 fitted a mmi box from Droid UK which is excellent.

Full screen AA and the track selection buttons & volume on the steering wheel work perfectly.
The idrive controller works for all functions to. The BMW NBT works as normal just press the menu button for 2 seconds to switch between the two systems.

The audio through the AUX sounds pretty good and the box has a decent graphic EQ for you to play with!!

These boxes probably are made by the same factory but the software varies. The Droid is the latest version. Don't pay more than about £200. One well known vendor charges £700 and its the same box!!

I can't get over the fact you run audio through AUX. Just not ideal for high quality audio.
