My retirement account has done very well the last 20 months. I like to look at facts and numbers and those numbers have done well. Also, my current employer is finally starting to get a lot of work. (I'm in engineering)

Don't forget that nobody gave Obama credit for the economy recovering after he was elected (I didn't). Presidents do more to hinder economic success that contribute to it. I'll stay that course. I also think economic confidence is usually higher under Republicans.

I also think that there will be a few rough spots in the economy because of tariff threats by Trump. But I believe they will ultimately get worked out and whatever losses incurred will rebound fast. So, I'll stay the course too, but I'm weighing more towards safety because of my age.

This tariff crap is killing us where I work. We do custom engineering and manufacturing, building our products at our plant in China. Typical lead time from signed purchase agreement to invoice is 3 to 4 months. So we are signing purchase agreements with customers today for products that may be 25% more expensive by the time they ship. Total cluster f*ck.

If our HTS code does indeed go to 25%, as is being threatened, we will end up cutting one product line loose, along with approximately a dozen American workers. We cant compete with the Europeans with an extra 25% tacked onto the bottom line. Instead of bringing jobs back to America it will cost them.

In engineering there are a lot of unique industries and most of us purchase globally. I don't like this tariff shit either and I like Trump. I can only hope.. he has a plan in mind if this tariff crap backfires, because he will lose a lot of support. Including me... my brain isn't blindly locked in one direction.
