Hey,

I recently replaced the original pre-LCI chrome surround grill with the blacked out double slat grill.

I would like to add the BMW tri colour insert to this but cannot seem to find them for this grill anywhere.

Has anyone found these ? Any pointers appreciated.

I'm including images for demonstration purposes. I'm hoping to put the tri Coloured grill inserts in the first pic onto the double slat blacked out grill in the second.

IMHO, you'll have to find one already done. I have yet to see the "m-sport" double-slat grille. Maybe buy 2 sets of the overlays? Watch eBay.

I don't see any real difference about adding these or swapping out the alloys or adding some body kit…. They all aim to improve the look of the car

If the G30 M cars had the grill tri colour as a feature i wouldn't add it to mine but as far as i can see it is not

It's just widely viewed by true BMW enthusiasts as tacky. BMW never, ever, had tri colored slats on any grill or any model.

It's on the same level as fuzzy dice, slanted wheels, an Italian horn hanging from the mirror, wrap around sunglasses, etc. Just don't be showing up to any BMW cars and coffees with them. You will be on an island by yourself.

Ah ok now we are getting somewhere. I am new to the BMW world and have never heard of this before.

I didn't know BMW enthusiasts viewed them like this. I am learning as i go.

Makes me wonder what else is in the same category of 'no nos'.

Is there a list somewhere i could view before i start annoying the whole community with mods.

Nah, it's not like there is a list! Welcome to the club. Tri colored grill stripes strikes a major chord with even the least judgmental people! For the most part, you will hear to each his own, but tri colored stripes will get a rise out of many!

Its your car, do what you want. If you like it, it dont matter what anyone else thinks. Theyre cheap anyways so if it gets old, swap em out or sell them. Only opinion that matters is the one that paid for the car.

Here is mine with the exact front grille as you asked about. My kid picked em out and on they went. Looks fine to me and adds some character plus it makes him smile knowing he helped with dads bimmer. I have a spare all black one as well. Looks better than the anniversary emblems but to each their own.

It sucks that the "BiteMyWeenie" crowd is like this, not all, but most. Bunch of Low self-esteem, bullies if you ask me..

It's YOUR car brother, do what you want. If those losers are going to judge you by your car without getting to know you who the hell wants to be friends with those guys....

It's all in good fun, but yeah, I think we all judge a little bit on lots of things. People are solid in this group with good intent and some good ole boy jabbing. I am not sure this makes me a low self esteem bully, but I did laugh my ass off at your post over my lunch!

I love the uniqueness of EVERY car. That person doing mods to THEIR car is one of US! They feel the same joy and pleasure from a cusotm mod as anyone. Some have means to make small changes that fit their style. Some have major money and can do $1000 carbon wings. To each their own, I appreciate them all. Regardless of what I like. They are driving it everyday- if they look back at that car after it is parked. I’m right there with them! They are passionate about something, which a lot of civilization is lacking.

To the stripes, DOOO ITTTT! I personally like the look. 99% of people don’t even own a BMW- I can trust that they believe it’s something that has come factory. If anyone gives you a hard time, they need to work on themsleves. Not something you need be worried by.
